Railroaded? They ran a train on me
Lawyer did the "no evidence" defense.
Judge agreed, which is why she knocked off community service.
Still had to bail out, pay court fees, lawyer, MADD fees, driving class, effective decision making class, substance abuse evaluation ($75 for that shite), etc

Then again I would have probably demanded a blood sample if they arrested me for alcohol and hadn't been drinking.
If they suspected me of being under the influence of another drug, well, I understand not wanting to give a blood sample.

I did. Never saw a doctor. Never had blood drawn.
Little hint: blood only gets drawn against your will or after a wreck. It only gets drawn if it'll help their case.

So that explains about 6 months of your scenario. The city doesnt just out 1,000 hour blocks of vacation to use at your discretion. Employees with the years of service that Reech has earn 192 hours of vacation a year. So after burning through those 1,0000 hours, (that he was able to build up without taking off for over 5 years), he would have to do another 5 years of not using a single vacation day in order to accrue another 1,000 hours
And I'll state it again since some just like to gloss over facts and continue to spew B.S they know nothing about. No police officer on the Baton Rouge Police Department can use vacation and then go work OT, unless it is for a LSU home game. I have explained the reason why LSU games are the exception in a previous post in this thread. Now they are allowed to take off VACATION or COMP TIME and work a private detail, but that is a seperate matter.
A police officer can not take sick leave and work either OT or private details, under any circumstance.

Yes you can. If that is what you took from my post, then I apologize. I'm taking it from some of the posts in this thread that people are saying that he is taking off from his regular day of work, (like Monday in your example), and then working OT that same Monday instead.
And again, once you burn through all your accrued hours, then it would take 5 years to max out again.

It is perfectly legal to take sick or vacation time and work as well. However, (without knowledge of how the union contract reads) 1.5x overtime is generally not calculated on sick or vacation time. The biggest exception would be holiday pay which usually earns 2x pay if the employee works.
Having dealt with municipal payrolls before, I suspect the issue here is "guaranteed overtime" which a lot of unions have negotiated for. This usually means that employees get paid for being on call, even though they're not actually at their job.

is he taking his vacation time? Say he takes an 8 vacation (assuming that is their daily allotment), the next two would be 16's to even it out.

Yea sounds like an absolutely miserable way to earn only $120,000 per year. He should just get a job working offshore, could make that much and only work half the year.
