People lose track and realize living on the North side of Chicago puts you further away from all the crime and shite than living in St George or Prairieville does.

Kansas City - 30.93
Cleveland - 27.77
Memphis - 27.73
Newark - 27.14
Chicago - 24.13
It's the Mississippi River. Gosh darn contaminated water

A resident of Baton Rouge under age 50 is significantly more likely to die from murder than coronavirus. 6 kids have been shot in the last day, but it is safer to not have kids in school.
Coronavirus deaths per 100k for under 50 is 9.
Murder is over per 100k under 50 is 35.

A long tradition of Democrat leadership with a justice system that is very weak on crime.

I thought that was common knowledge considering Chicago is the third largest city in the country.

I don’t think the problem can be fixed with any amount of discussion, money, education reform, reparations. It’s a hopeless cause and it getting worse. Ruthless Avoidance and Ruthless self defense

I’ve lived in five of those cities and most if not all the violence is segregated.
Saint Louis is more violent primarily around communities near the river.
Chicago. West side is beefin.
Baton Rouge. Its North side is hot.
New Orleans seems to always be jumping, even now in Uptown it seems.
Baltimore, down near the Park is hot. Literally blown out crack houses three streets over.

I thought most people knew this. Chicago's numbers get watered down by its huge population. Its bad areas are as rough as just about anywhere though.
New Orleans used to be far and away the most dangerous city in the country in the 90s.

Grew up in Memphis. Violence is almost exclusively in the south and Nawf sides. Guess what demographics make up those neighborhoods?

Like BR or NO it depends on what part of Chicago you are talking about.
I do think NO is more dangerous across the whole city
It's more isolated in BR
Chicago violence is really bad on the Southside which is away from the main part of Chicago - Chicago is a big city comparatively speaking

Where's Birmingham and Jackson? Both of those cities had a top 5 murder rate last year.

Google it. Those are the stats from 2019. Dropping to 4th place was the celebrated 40 year low for New Orleans. Baton rouge was 5th worst. Shreveport was #8. Louisiana's three biggest cities were in the top 8 most murderous cities in the U.S.. And people in Louisiana wonder why so many people are in prison here? Have you looked at the violent crime stats? Even scarier is knowing that 7 out of 10 murders in NOLA don't even result in an arrest. And I'm sure some of the small number of murders that actually result in arrest result in dropped charges or jury acquittals. So, I wonder what the real percentage is of murders in NOLA that the suspects get away with murder? I have said for years, I bet walking around NOLA, there's probably no other city in the the U.S. with more cold blooded murderers free to walk the streets around you.

Chicago is awesome. The violence is mostly contained, until recent riots/looting, to certain neighborhoods on Southside.
I'd feel safer in Chicago than New Orleans and Baton Rouge.
