Surgery again this evening I think.
Arm shattered, has a rod in there now.
The officer in critical condition:
On a breathing machine.
Edit: 2 seperate officers still in hospital

I missed the begining. Did they say who made the 911 call? Was it just a random citizen reporting a guy on Airline with a gun?
From the timing, they're saying that it's possible that one of the people in the B Quick parking lot may have called it in (since the shooter was ignoring them as he walked from building to building).

This isn't the thread for this nonsense.

Makes it a lot more clear why people thought there were multiple shooters. Also, it does not look like he planned it out very well actually. Sounds like he got lucky, and that he probably caught some cops off guard.
Really frustrating that none of our national leaders have asked for the violence and assassination of police to stop.

The surveillance video from which the stills in the press conference came was not released right? They said that the video shows how everything went down and shows the deputy returning fire after being hit. I'm assuming they won't release it until after the investigation is over or maybe not at all.

sad thing is it sounds this particular officer was caught in his car... running the plate of a suspicious vehicle (which happened to be the shooter's car)

I just watched the replay of the presser. When you hear what these brave officers did, and then to think there were people on here yesterday questioning the training of the officers. I read several comments stating they thought our police were trained better, and questioning their abilities as officers. Wonder how they feel now?

yeah... the officer with the shattered arm you can hear on the "initial 45 minutes" recording posted in this thread yesterday evening... at like the 3:30 mark you can hear him say he's hit then about 10 seconds later say he's hit in the arm

pretty much. They made it clear he was pretty skilled with his weapon though.
but if his plan was to shoot up this place and then head to BRPD HQ....well that's a shitty plan

It wasn't really a fair fight either. Shooter was very likely wearing body armor (looked bulky in pictures from presser) so officers' 9mm rounds are worthless unless they head shot him and they're not trained to do that. His 5.56 rifle meanwhile goes right through the Kevlar vests that the officers were all likely wearing.

From a good friend in BRPD:
"Thanks man. Been a tough couple of weeks down here on the front lines, but we know what we are fighting for and believe we will eventually prevail.
The activist that protested in our streets and the lone wolf who ambushed us yesterday are just trying to discredit us so that they can commit crimes and not be held accountable. That dog won't hunt, not here, not on my watch."
It's this mentality that makes me believe. It's an attitude like this that shows me they will do everything in their power to continue keeping law-abiding citizens safe

Which officer reported "officer down"?
Posted on 7/18/16 at 4:11 pm to Stevo
Maybe the sheriffs deputy that took cover behind the dumpster. Sounds like the first two were shot pretty quickly.

So tragic to think that the officer who called that in may have also lost his life only moments later!
