Firing squad for marijuana doesn’t seem very fair though does it? Not really “so be it!”

Indonesia doesn’t f around when it comes to drugs.

There was a story a few years ago - warehouse busted with drugs in Indonesia. Guy driving forklift was French. French govt got involved saying he was not making drugs. Doesn’t deserve to be executed. Indonesian govt basically said “we don’t care, he was in warehouse. Will be executed.”

Brokedown Palace is a good movie to learn how southeast Asia treats drug smugglers.

He fooled around, now he's finding out.

I think it is excessive, but you go to another country, you have to obey their rules. No one forced him to take the job and go there.

The report said someone mailed him 132 gummies. I'm going to guess that maybe this was just the first time he got caught -- and now he is up for the Stupid Prize.

I don't. We can clearly see what turning a blind eye to the drug trade can do to a country.

Calling this drug trafficking is a stretch. Sounds like he was having gummies shipped to him for his personal use.

Death penalty is excessive for that offense. Give him 6 months in prison and kick him out of the country never to return.

That said, why would anybody be stupid enough to even mess with drugs in that country? He wins the Darwin award for FAFO.

Anyone with two functioning brain cells knows you don't smuggle drugs/sell drugs/probably even do drugs in a southeast Asian country.

Indonesia can do what it wants, but we should tell them to frick themselves when they have their hands out for the $200 million in aid they get from us every year.

It may not seem fair but it's their rules.

Correct. The more media attention it gets, the more their point is made. “No means no.” Industrial strength deterrence.

It should. And the fact that it doesn't probably has a lot to do with Americans thinking they can go to other countries and do whatever they want

Especially someone over there to play basketball professionally. There is zero chance he didn't know this was what would happen to him
