One of my high school friend's dad grew up right near that strip and used to squirrel hunt the woods near it. One Saturday before daylight he was swarmed by guys in full military gear and was told he needed to get out of the area and not come back.
Looking back he says that had to be CIA guys waiting on a drop from Seal.

A pilot buddy in Rockport flew weed from Mexico to south of Houston in 70's and 80's, he has some wild stories. Even wrote a book about his adventures.

In the movie "double crossed" they show them making air drops and boats coming pick it up. Not sure how historically accurate it is. It is a pretty good movie but not too easy to find. I think Seal is played by Dennis Hopper.

I don’t know about Barry Seal but I know of a spot on Tangipahoa River where a sea plane would regularly land and drop off cargo to a specific camp. This was in the early to mid 80’s. No idea who was flying the plane or exactly what it was they were hauling. Always heard it was weed but who knows. Funny thing is they never got busted to my knowledge and everyone knew what was going on.

I remember hearing during the 80's there were a lot of drugs moved around Ruddock boat launch near where I-55 cuts between lakes maurepas and pontchartrain. I also recall hearing they dumped a lot of bodies back off old Hammond highway that once ran through the swamp there before the interstate was built.
