It appears that 2nd and 3rd place get rings in these travel ball tournaments, no?
Second place yes
Out of 15-20 teams?
Not bad

You’re okay with banning an entire team from playing in your events because of some dads or daddy ball coaches?
People choose to play with those daddy ball coaches and psycho parents.

I am starting to see a swing back towards rec leagues though, which I always felt like would eventually happen.
I’m starting to see a bit of this at 9/10. Parents are out of money after 6/7/8 coach pitch travel

Travel ball has crippled city recreation departments.
It has ruined childhood for a lot of kids also.

What do you mean “parents are out of money”?
After tee ball? How can parents be out of money?

Except Jamaal or Jose will beat him out

The coaches dance to it when they are warming up pregame.

Oh my God. The horror. Coaches dancing and having a good time with their kids at the baseball park.
What next? Are kids not allowed to yell, “Hey batta batta, swiiing batta batta”

No, the everyone gets a trophy mob that runs the recs now has ruined recreational departments.
It actually is ok to keep score and have a winning and losing team.

Tony La Russa would appreciate it if you would apologize for this horrible lack of sportsmanship.

Who cares? Let people have fun.

That’s because the money they pay for the 5/6/7 year old in her dance and cheer competitions in Disney drain the cash.

quote:My parents grew up in Williamsport and knew Carl Stotz (the guy who created Little League). According to them, all he was trying to do was make sure the little kids could have a schedule so if they showed up at the right time, there would be a real game. Also according to them, he got pretty disgusted at what the adults turned it into.
At least in Rec league you can get a shot to win something and maybe even go to Williamsport.

It would be hilarious if every kid used an extremely profane song. I would allow that.

Oh, but it is. I got my first dose of it yesterday at our oldest grandson's travel team game. I had no idea, either. I said, very loudly, "Nobody wants to hear this $hit!" Made no difference. We still all heard it.
Posted on 5/23/21 at 7:47 pm to LSUFanHouston
I can only imagine how embarrassed these kids are. My grandmother was a very enthusiastic fan for my youth sports and it was very embarrassing. She would scream my name then "whoop" it up like she was in the audience of the Arsenio Hall Show
