Orwellian existence is about double-speak and perpetuating lies for the sake of conformity (and personal safety).
Police body cams and flock cameras are showing truths indiscriminately.
Orwell isnt the correct parallel at all.

Yeah frick privacy for the rest of us because a small percentage of people are criminals and cops are too fricking lazy to do their jobs.

Not at all. But the violent and relentless crime, absolutely.

Dumb. Hundreds will suffer as the result of those 100 guilty going free.

In HS, while reading 1984, my biggest disbelief was that some people would actually be cheerleading for Big Brother. Now, here I am in 2026 watching it happen. Don’t be a fool.
You have no idea the sophistication of these facial recognition cameras that are plugged into Ai and recording every second. They can read a text message on the passenger seat while you drive 80mph on the interstate as speed and other details are recorded.
This site actually has some brainwashed simpletons fighting on their controller’s behalf. Muh LiCEnSe PlAtE rEaDeRs.

What kind of loss of privacy are we talking about here when you are driving down a public street?
So we're all supposed to be less safe so you can cheat on your wife?

Every one on public streets just need to close their eyes.
Privacy first.

You're being the simpleton here to suggest that we can just decide that we aren't going to let the world keep improving these systems. We don't have that power.
We can make an attempt at regulating these new technologies and putting in common sense controls to limit it's abuse, but I'm not confident that we can even do that when we voluntarily promote convicted criminals to our highest government positions.

Bad news for the Anti-flock bros
I remember when this board used to mock England (in re: London) for being a surveillance state.

That's exactly right. It's public roads. Why the frick do people they have a "right to privacy" in the open public?

Compliance gives support. Resistance slows or stops advancement.
The reason they are installing cameras at this reckless pace: to make the populace think it’s already too far gone.
You are a victim of a propaganda campaign but you don’t realize it. Don’t lick the boot.

These systems have been around for over 10 years.
The only reason why this has become news all of a sudden is because Flock began checking on its usage and noticed violations in the terms of service. Because of that, they ramped up increased checks (precheck SOPs and monthly audits) and they shortened the data storage from a 30 day default down to 2 weeks.
Ironically, it has been the development of systems and common sense practices which has resulted in newsworthy abuses by law enforcement (which has included prosecution of law).
The only reason why there is a thread on the rant is because safeguards are in place and working.

Any publicly funded CCTV that the government employs (red light cameras, etc) are bullshite in the supposed land of the free.

Baton Rougeans are clearly not happy with the status quo but also not happy with the proposed solution. Y’all want more actual policing? Haha good luck.

So here is the test. If, as you say, there is no right to privacy in a public space, would you support the video from these cameras being accessible for anyone? Tax dollars are paying for them, so tax payers should have access. I mean, parents can keep their kids safe no? You can “make sure” you wife gets to work safely. You would agree with this?
