Once the request was made, deletion should have been halted until they determined whether the request is valid or not.
The other issue is I wonder how many times LMPD has used Flock video outside of the 30 days it was recorded in their favor in cases? Or how many cases they’ve used them at all. You have to make evidence available to both parties in cases like that.

Except i can opt out of all tracking by powering down, not carrying it, etc...can't do that with the surveillance equipment the state pays for with our involuntary contributions.

Authorized users abusing access should be fired and charged. That's why audit logs are so important. Internal audits of the Flock system helped identify alleged unauthorized searches by officers. It is interesting that LEO's have to know the consequences for misuse but still do it anyways.

This is the sort of thing that makes me think flock is going to put themselves out of business. They can't go on every pr event and scream over and over there's no public expectation of privacy while saying their records of people are not public record and their privacy may be violated if released. Then, when a lawyer makes an open records case the file magically disappears after being denied?
Defense attorneys will eat that up at discovery, which will force the govt to either make these guys get a warrant (voiding all of their current cases) and admit it's a search, or make it open records, at which point the public will have open access to everything flock has, and the politicians now face the public. This business of playing both sides isn't sustainable.
