Most People don’t care about the virus

Many people care about the Govt’s response to the virus particularly my kid needing to wear a mask at school.

Poor kids at St. Dominic and CBS finally got to take off the masks last week only for Teedy and Avegno to make them put it back on.

many fricking do, and they are all pretty much the same.

The lady who has been cutting my hair for a decade is crazy about it. I have had to wear a mask this entire time, even with no mandate. She is a flaming liberal.

She's been doing it so long I sort of consider her a friend. I know her husband, have met her kids a bunch. I'd feel bad going elsewhere but its sort of nuts at this point.

So one crazy person you know = many??

ETA: there is definitely a subset of people that really care about Covid but they are pretty easy to avoid and it is clearly not the vast majority of people walking the streets (bc those people are still holed up in their houses and bleaching their grocery deliveries )

I was in South Carolina a few weeks ago and no one gave a frick.

It’s Nola and retarded democrats that are part of the covid cult.

’m going to go ahead and consider fairgrounds an outside activity and dare anyone to say anything.

Though…

When they price gouged us to get in on Louisiana derby day during the mandate last year I saw maybe 7 people abiding. And nobody said anything to those without masks.

I fricking hate this state.

It is considered an outside activity but i was there last friday and saturday and friday it was business as normal but Saturday you had to have a mask on to go in the racing office and you had to have a mask inside the grandstand.

Just an example.

I've seen people all over town with masks on for weeks (in JP as well), and I know a few others. One dude I know (another Biden voter) with no comorbidities I am aware of, young and in decent shape, is double vaxxed, booster, and wears two masks everywhere.

He posted on FB today how happy he is the mask mandate is coming back.

Speaking of restaurants we went to Italian Barrel a couple weeks ago. Holy frick the service was bad. Food was decent at least.

Something like 10% of the restaurant & hospitality industry quit their jobs in 2021. Just saw on 60 minutes

The part I just don't get, and I see someone mentioned that in the Reddit thread, is that LaToya is constantly making decisions that don't at all align with what is going on nationally.

The past few days have been huge on a national level with a massive shift in narrative, CDC admitting Covid isn't that bad, people finally accepting the data that masks don't work, etc. Plus the amount of vaccinated people who have had Covid the past 2 weeks.

And LaToya, in the midst of all this, reinstates a mask mandate? If anything, mask mandates are probably going to start dropping everywhere with all of this information finally being reported in MSM. It's so stupid, and makes her look like she is totally isolated from national news.

new Orleans isn't a closed system.

1. Neither is Louisiana. Why did you quote that vaccination statistic?

2. If a closed system is what you require, those don’t exist. So then what is the point of any mandates anywhere? Or laws for that matter?

quote:

Because the vaccinations aren't terribly effective after several mutations of this virus.

So a virus is changing in order to survive like every other virus in the history of the world. Did you not think this would happen when you told people to get vaccinated so life would go back to normal?

quote:

And the current version of this virus is nothing.

People infected with the previous version of the virus had a 99+% survival rate. Exactly how much more nothing is this current version in order for you to no longer feel vaccination is required for return to normal?

Nola area feels like the only place I’ve been to in the past 12+ months that anyone has given a shite.

Tennessee, Georgia, SC, Texas, MS, AL and FL. Not one frick given there even in Austin. Was awesome.

I went to the ford dealership on vets and the salesman was off to the side smoking a cig when I pulled up. We went inside and he put two masks on. I said, oh do I need a mask? He said no, I’m vaccinated but I just like to be sure.

I didn’t buy a vehicle from him. Went through a different dealer.

Do you think I, personally, thought people needed to be vaccinated to return to normal?

You really completely missed the argument, didn't you?

Same. Austin, Fredericksburg, Asheville 2 separate times of the year, San Diego... nobody has come close to being on NOLA's level.

I was checked closely everywhere I went in New Orleans a couple of weeks ago, save for 1 place where I went through the back entrance accidentally and nobody was around.
