Ehh I’d say I see more black people than white people wearing masks on any given day around downtown nola.
I 100% notice more black people wearing masks during the “lulls” in covid when there’s no mandate and the case counts are low. Both myself and my SO have observed this at different grocery stores in JP. Virtually 0 white people masked, nearly every black person masked.

All this tells me is they wouldn’t have to put a mask mandate in place if the vaccines worked
And the sad part is they’re so deep into this that there is no going back. To admit failure now would be career/political suicide for them.

When everything had calmed down between waves it seemed the black community kept with the mask more, which was still barely at all.
The last few weeks it seems the white community has pulled theirs back out unprompted. Seems about even right now.

Live in nola. Own two businesses here that do really well. This caught me completely off guard. Kids back in masks at school. Archdiocese completely cucked for covid. Have hated this entire response to covid but something just snapped today. Selling everything and moving out of state.
When everyone like me leaves nola eventually, this place will descend into a hell scape. Only so far you can push the producers before they finally say frick you and leave.
