For how unbelievably badass and cool the vast majority of WWII generation people are
See, how great were they really? Sure WWII was awesome and all , and I thank them for the fact that I am not speaking German. But besides that, what makes them "great" besides looking at the past with rose colored glasses? They seemed to be a fairly bigoted and stubborn generation in terms of social aspects

let's see, folks married in the 2000s have only had 4-14 years to get divorced.

1990s 15-25 yrs
1980s 25-35 yrs
1970s 35-45 yrs

simple math. the rate will probably be the same or close, when each generation has the same number of years under their belt. Gen X and Y are certainly not more moral than the Boomers.

For stats, I'm a divorced Xer.

How did the Greatest Generation produce such colossal frick ups?

Well, IMO the GG was pretty harsh as parents because that's how life was, either from war, poverty or hardships and the BB escaped into the bullshite free love and hedonism of the 60s-70s and were shitty parents and divorced at the drop of a hat. Their kids grew up realizing what a shite show growing up in a divorced home is/can be so they vowed to try and avoid that.

Plus there's a growing acceptance and trend of not marrying, waiting until marrying, understanding love and marriage, no or less kids, getting counseling, sexual aids and awareness and other things to help married people stay married longer.

The so called greatest generation created warfare on a level not seen in world history. Actually, their parents (the WW1 generation) kicked it off. The Baby Boomers in the western world benefited from American economic hegemony after WW2 and were spoiled rotten. They were also told from birth how great and deserving they were. It created narcissism probably not seen before in world history. Their children (the Millennial or selfie generation) are going down the same road. Spoiled little self important pricks. Look no further than hipsters

I actually agree with some of this. I still believe in the Greatest generation. These people worked so hard and just grinded and saved for everything. Then came the boomers who were obviously a lot more spoiled than their parents. This lead to the hippy phase and the vast amount of drug use we see today. And now for gen x and gen y I see a lot of people our age who are even more spoiled than their parents were. I know sooo many "$30,000 millionaires" who just graduate college and live in apartments they can't come close to affording, have mercedes/bmws, and go on trips out of the country seemingly all the time. I can't understand why the baby boomers think this is a good way of parenting. They have gotten so far away from the values the greatest generation had and now we have people in their late 20s that still get a freakin allowance from their parents and their bills paid. I will say that it does seem like a lot of people in Gen X and Gen Y have observed all the parenting mistakes from the boomers out there and are trying to choose a different path.

Plus, contrary to the liberal feminists that are shoved in your face, I think most women are past burning their bras. I know very few women that would identify themselves as a feminist. And most of my close friends are anti feminist.

I wish this was the case for me, I've met more feminists in the past year than I had in the previous 26.

It's hilarious to me the people that have "read this chart" and think that Generation X & Y will somehow end up with a divorce rate less than the Baby Boomers.

My favorite is the belief that internet dating will be the END of divorce. Online dating has also lead to Tinder, and Ashley Madison, not to mention facebook and instagram creeping.

If my generation (X) does end up with a lower divorce rate it certainly won't be because we understand how to use statistics.

Many people in this thread don't seem to understand the concept of a "rate."

Maybe they just haven't had time to get divorced yet.

look at the chart. It proves nothing. The 60s are the only ones that show a noticeable decrease in rate.

False. Every trend and data point indicates it'll continue to decline.

im not taking up for boomers but did you even look at the chart?

Look at that steep increase b/t 14-17 years of marraige for the 90's group.
