This actually would correlate.

The addition of hispanics all through the southern part of the us didn’t bring your scores up.

Is this why we had to show demographically adjusted scores?

I keep reading how the majority of public schools around Chicago are basically illiterate but this map shows they are close to national average.

Same around DC, Baltimore, Philly, Atlanta, etc

I’m wondering if averaging with private and magnet schools is pulling the burgundy to white.

oh and for the record....US whites and Asians are not behind other countries and our education system is not failing as so many want you to believe

all you have to do is look at scores of different ethnic groups in America and compare to other countries

quote:

White American students outperform all White countries on the PISA exam, and even outperform South Koreans. Asian Americans outperform all Asian groups except Hong Kong. It’s simply false to say American educational outcomes are bad.

quote:

U.S. Asians are doing better than even Singaporians. U.S. Whites are doing great compared to other countries. U.S. overall scores lower because there are many low-scoring Blacks and Hispanics, not because of some crisis.

and for some reason we have a problem admitting this. all the AI apps will give you a bunch of reasons why this might not apply before finally giving you the numbers if you ask for median IQ by race for America

quote:

Asian Americans: 105-110
White Americans: 100-105
Hispanic Americans: 90-95
African Americans: 85-90

Southeast looks like CFB and college basketball recruiting map. And a Democrat Party voting map.
Huh that's crazy. It's almost like there's a demographic that doesn't value education, always votes democrat and is really good at basketball.

At a National level, private vs public. Grade 12 there wasn't a large enough sample size for private, but quite a difference. The difference is consistent in every subject with the exception of Writing, where the difference starts out smaller and then increases.

The only thing I can think of is perhaps writing is something that requires consistent practice, and as public school kids age they get less and less push to write essays. The difference in value is small enough.

no it was just post on X by people looking at the data from the chart. I was just showing it wasnt my words sorry

but the data is the data on the chart and all the quotes are doing is a summarization of that data

but you can google PISA exam results broken down by country and race and see the results.

compared to other midwestern states, michigan has a lot of purple in extremely white areas. interesting.

Numbers in SE Michigan, ie, Detroit, were being doctored 30 years ago. Probably not any different now. Ex was a HS teacher there. I helped her grade English papers and journalism class work occasionally. It was completely unreadable, but the HS's scores on state testing were "just fine". The teacher's union's power in MI is exceeded only by that of the UAW.

Map is racist. Why do the areas with higher black populations have lower scores?

Almost all of LA, MS and AL are below average. When did they become blue states?

Those states have the highest percentage of blacks, who tend to have the lowest test scores and the highest likelihood of being a registered Democrat.

Its because the suburbs around those places are lily white and wealthy. I know a lot of you get your perception of everything you see on the news but metro Chicago and Atlanta actually have a higher percentage of whites than most of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.

I know. I lived in the suburbs of Atlanta.

But I think the granularity of the map would show the suburbs with different coloring than the inner city instead of averaging them. I guess not.

More likely it means the national average is basically illiterate.

What's interesting is how much certain state policies do make a difference though regardless of demographics.

Many areas with same demographics but vastly different results along the state lines like the Virginia & Maryland borders with West Virginia or the Florida/Alabama border.
