2019 F-150, 12,000 miles and the A/C has gone out in a Louisiana summer. We waited 3 weeks for an appointment with the dealer because it’s under warranty. 2 days after our appointment, they still haven’t looked at it and aren’t sure when they’ll be able to. And tell us that once they do look at it, it will still be however long for them to order parts and fix it. We picked it up and have called different dealers around the area - from New Roads to Denham, and they all said they would be similar.

Will the warranty cover the problem if we go to someone else? Also, wtf is going on that every Ford service station is backed up by weeks?

Drop it off and get a loaner. Is that not a thing anymore?

They won't pay for a non Ford dealership to fix it.

Did you troubleshoot it at all?

Does the clutch engage the compressor pulley when you turn the A/C on? If not it is a simple pressure switch replacement most likely. Don't even need to mess with the refrigerant to change it out.

No loaners with the car shortage. I don’t understand why we have to park it there for days before they can look at it, and they can’t give us any idea when they’ll get to it, so we’re just supposed to leave it indefinitely.

Yes, it’s running, just not cooling. Every few days it will start cooling like a champ and then go back to just blowing warm air.

No, just trade them in every couple of years because of outside sales and high mileage. This is the fourth f-150, but the first one since leaving sales and the only one with a major issue.

Compressor's don't fail intermittently .. they either work or they don't. The pressure switch engages the compressor pulley clutch to spin the compressor when needed for A/C. They can / and do / fail intermittently. Easy way to check is to find the pressure switch on a day when the A/C isn't working .. tap the switch with a wrench. If the A/C pulley clutch engages .. it's the switch.

Other option. If you can get it to an Auto Parts store .. a lot of times they will do a computer scan for free (dealer will always charge for this). Most modern vehicles will throw a code if the switch is bad.

The switch itself is about $30 bucks and can be replaced without evacuating the refrigerant .. so it's worth checking.

They should be able to diagnose the problem in a very short time period. Are you able to go to dealer you purchased from?

If not call Ford and bitch

Brand new Ford giving you problems? No way!!

I’ve owned a Toyota Tundra, Toyota Camry, and Honda’s my whole life. Only problems I had were air conditioner problems in the Tundra at 10 years/210,000 miles.

Father in law has a brand new Ford F-150 and that piece of shite spends more time at Robinson Brothers than it does in his driveway.

Your Toyota is obviously shite as my Avalanche had 250k and 12 years with zero AC problems.

See how that works?
