I’ve owned a Toyota Tundra, Toyota Camry, and Honda’s my whole life. Only problems I had were air conditioner problems in the Tundra at 10 years/210,000 miles.

My mom had two different Toyota’s that were in for repairs numerous times under 50k. Her solara was the biggest piece of shite new car I’ve ever seen.

My work vehicle is a 2020 Ford. AC went out at about 6k miles. I was pretty upset with Ford. Upon closer inspection, I had a ding in my condenser, from what I guess was a rock that slipped through the grill and punctured it causing the refrigerant to escape. A hole the size of a pen head. They honored the warranty and replaced the condenser.

No loaners with the car shortage. I don’t understand why we have to park it there for days before they can look at it, and they can’t give us any idea when they’ll get to it, so we’re just supposed to leave it indefinitely.

At least with your issue, it is somewhat driveable.

In the last year, I had a 2019 Escape that was in the shop for almost 8 months total in the last year.

One of the Cylinders had a coolant leak, they had to machine cylinder took several weeks to fix. Then the same issue failed again a few weeks later. They decided to replace the engine this time. This was a several-month fix. Then in less than 2 weeks, the brand new engine failed and needed to be replaced yet again for another several-month fix due to the shortage of parts.

At least the dealer was nice enough for a loaner for the duration of the repairs. But man, if that engine goes out again. They are buying back this POS through the lemon law.

Ask f150forum and you may can find some error codes in forscan that can point you in the direction of what is wrong (although I wouldn't advise trying to fix anything with the AC if its even possible to do with FS without someone who knows what they're doing.

12k miles and the A/C just went out, that took longer than expected normally issues start around 4K miles … as for the warranty repair, if your under what’s called bumper to bumper warranty which is normally 3 years 36k miles… as long as the issues is verified which you can have a service writer verify the a/c isn’t getting cold, they should give you a loaner vehicle until yours is fixed… at least that’s how GM works

And this is also GM but say we are out of loaner vehicles GM will approve getting the customer a rental vehicle from enterprise or who ever, only condition GM has with that though is the rental has to be a GM vehicle

2019 F-150, 12,000 miles and the A/C has gone out in a Louisiana summer. We waited 3 weeks for an appointment with the dealer because it’s under warranty. 2 days after our appointment, they still haven’t looked at it and aren’t sure when they’ll be able to. And tell us that once they do look at it, it will still be however long for them to order parts and fix it. We picked it up and have called different dealers around the area - from New Roads to Denham, and they all said they would be similar.

Ford service departments are so busy repairing shitty products that they can't even SEE a customer for 3 weeks.

Great time for a labor shortage.

Brand new Ford giving you problems? No way!!

Father in law has a brand new Ford F-150 and that piece of shite spends more time at Robinson Brothers than it does in his driveway.

But my F-150 can massage my butt cheeks!

And it doesn't suck. It routinely goes 3-4 months without seeing a mechanic.

It was written into my warranty that they would provide a loaner, well a rental, with my Mustang. You have to get on them. I know my dealership prioritized cars bought from them too...

Your Toyota is obviously shite as my Avalanche had 250k and 12 years with zero AC problems.

See how that works?

Toyota owners think they drive horses with shite that doesn't stink.

Toyota's have higher reliability rates because they don't use new tech in their vehicles like other brands. They also run vehicle designs FOREVER. It isn't like other brands are shitting the bed, sure other brands have slightly higher repair incidents, but it is slight and usually have much more modern features years before Toyota gets them. Most brands would have slapped a modern transmission in the Tundra by now...

We just know our cars are way better than anything Ford makes.

No one is complaining about 'other brands'. We are well aware that Hondas, VW's, and Chevrolets can last far longer than 12,000 miles before losing the A/C system like Fords do.

Sorry you guys are going through hell right now. And I don't care what anyone says....a broken AC is an incredibly serious issue in the south during the summer.

You all could have picked a vehicle from any other brand, but selected one with the worst build quality and dealership network in the industry. I'd trade those lemons in for a non-Ford product while the market is hot.

Assuming you are talking about taking it to an independent shop.

Yeah the OP will never get reimbursed for it.

And good luck getting them to order parts unless a Ford service tech makes the diagnosis.

Damn!

2 year old car blows a gasket (lightening strike 1), you get the head fixed and it does it again (wha?! Strike 2!), then they put in a new engine and it also fails (wtf!!!??? Strike 3!!!)

That’s a lemon!

Is someone forgetting to put oil in the engine? Jeez!

All other brands have redesigned their trucks twice since the current Tundra came out in 2007.

Ancient design.

I really like Fords over the years.
The service was either hard to get in or took a few times to fix the problem.
This is why I bought Nissan Trucks the last few years.

Went to Nissan Titan for a work vehicle.
Then I traded it in on loaded Pro 4x Frontier.
Nissan drinks a lot of gas.
Ugly has heck.
Their service dept is not as backed up as no one buys Nissan’s.
If I had issues it is usually out in a day or at the most two and I get a rental vehicle.

The AC on my Mom's Toyota quit working at 10k miles. Then at 20k. Then at 30k. She got rid of it.

Two different dealers worked on it.

All brands have their issues
