Baws of the OT won't care for this news.

Does New Orleans have easy access to fiber internet everywhere?

This is really good news for NOLA. Tech sector is gaining momentum.

Really going to draw some top talent from all over the country with that $65k salary.

I wonder what they'll pay. I know DXC pay is like 60-70k for experienced IT jobs which is absolute shite money. It's basically just opening the door to hire a bunch of H1B1 employees after they "can't find local talent".

Did you just make this up?

NOLA is the one bright spot when it comes to the shite Louisiana economy. When I talk to people there, they sound blissfully ignorant to the troubles the rest of the state is dealing with.

It's more than over half of Americans make. And way more than most New Orleanians make

Good luck raising a family in nola for 65k.

The 350 new direct jobs will include an average annual salary of $65,000,
Keep in mind the H1B visa income requirement is $60,000. So just like DXC I assume they will be going the exact same route. LA tax dollars paying to bring in foreign workers.

Yeah it would be a good salary for a young person. Wouldn’t be able to live like a baller or anything. Still good news for the city and state

I find it hilarious that there are no public or tech jobs in the entire state, and they actually get some that pay pretty well and people still bitch about it.

That is exactly the play. Has been at every one of these big tech announcements around the state. They announce a bunch of jobs with way below market salaries and bring in the H1B1s when they cant fill the positions.

And it is comically low for the positions they are offering this for. Just because it is not low for New Orleans doesn't mean it's ok for the industry.

H1B employees are paid shite by their employers.

Because that's not really what's happening. They are using your tax dollars to bring in H1B employees with no real benefit to the state.

After busting my arse looking for a job, New Orleans is now a decent place if you're looking for IT or E&I jobs.
That being said, DXC advertised heavily at UNO. I don't know anyone who got hired yet
