I’ll occasionally get Chinese delivered to the office for lunch. Easily $30 every time. For fricking kung pao chicken.

Whether it is a happy meal from McDonald’s or fine dining meal, it is going to cost double what it would if you pick it up yourself….

Many of the Chase cards have DoorDash premium thing for free and that knocks down most fees. Doesn't help with restaurant markups though.

UberEats seems to constantly have 40% up to $15 off and that usually covers all the fee B.S.

What?!?! It costs extra money to have someone drive to a restaurant, pick up your food, and deliver it to your front door? Unbelievable!

My pizza night is 2 Red Baron pizzas. Total is $11

If I order delivery, I’m looking at $40-$50.

All those food delivery apps heavily rely on user behavior data, the cuisine of past orders in one week/month, average dollar amount per order, number of times a user opens the app on a daily/weekly/monthly basis, in which they leverage recommendation systems with batch and real-time prediction for the extra lazy person who doesn’t want to be bothered to peruse other menu items, and with one click can order the same shite as yesterday. Many people fall for it, rinse and repeat.

I think they make sense if you are shitfaced drunk, have a big office group order or if you are so wealthy that paying double doesn't matter to you.

I'd guess most of their business doesn't fall neatly into those categories though. But it's not my money, so carry on

I went to Chic Fil A today and ordered dine in from Mobile so I had to stand by the pickup area and wait for it. The number of Doordash/Uber eats orders and drivers there was insane.

There’s a guy that does doordash on a e-bike in Los Angeles that is surprisingly entertaining. He makes it look fun.

Wealthy folks didn’t get that way buy paying double.

I’ve used door dash once. Once was enough to offend my adopted Jew half.

I’ll keep more of my money and pick it up or deal with what I have if I can’t drive.

I've delivered a bag of Takis once. A $2 bag of chips, or whatever they are, about a mile. I made $7. That means somebody paid $10 for a bag of chips. They could've hopped on a bicycle and gotten it sooner most likely, and saved more than $7.

Used to drive DD for beer money on the side. It’s not worth it anymore. DD makes more on the order than the driver does! App delivery market is fading fast.

The delivery apps will slowly die. I pity the fools that invested in them during covid thinking they were the next big thing

Along with the high price, i just can’t trust other people touching my food and drinks

Agreed.

I also don't want some low IQ fool with a scanner plucking my groceries and produce so I can sit in the parking lot and stare at my phone while they don't give a damn about how crappy it looks, or if the expiration date on something is 2 weeks from now.
I want to handle my own groceries, and inspect them myself before I pay for them.

Sorry to hear that. I’ve never done DoorDash in my life.
