Yea it’s absurd. Even whenever they offer special deals like “50% off!”, it still ends up being more than the original price anyways once they tack on more hidden fees.

It's a total scam. Works fine in large areas like LA or NYC where the restaurants are motivated to offer $0 delivery, but it absolutely sucks in areas without an extremely large population.

All food delivery apps are the same. They upcharge at the end because they know you probably wont turn back at that point.

Blame inflation and the lack of people wanting to work.

My philosophy has always been that if I have a car and two legs, I'm gonna go get my take-out meals myself. As you said, it's outrageously expensive and I also, personally, just feel super lazy knowing someone is driving around to deliver a meal to my doorstep.

Most places I'm doing pickup from I can get to in 15-20 minutes tops. I'm just going myself.

Anybody routinely using these apps is either too lazy to take seriously or is expensing it to their employer.

A vendor gave me a Door Dash gift card awhile back and I couldn't even make myself pay those charges with other people's money.

I went and picked it up myself and got 2 meals out of it.

If you have Amazon Prime you get GrubHub+ or whatever it’s called for free. I think the only “fee” you pay is tax & tip.

2 large pizzas with a $10 tip included came out to $45

ETA: I delivered pizza in college. I don’t have a problem giving them money for delivery

I pretty much only use DoorDash/Uber eats etc when I’m expensing it.

Otherwise screw that.

You guys realize you don't have to tip people and not every Door Dasher is compromising your food?
