Who are these 'people' going out in neighborhoods by the car load, parking on lawns, they wear blue shirts with ATT logos, banging on doors as if they have a warrant. They don't understand "NO", they only way to get rid of them is to slam the door in their face.

They're just casing your house. Sorry

are you implying that they might be aliens?
or animals in disguise?

Those are called burglars. They're casing your neighborhood.

I am guessing ATT Fiber just arrived in your neighborhood?

No BS, I already had ATT and the guy pulled up my account, looked at my equipment, and ended up getting me $40 off my monthly bill (for about 9 months now).

No they aren't. ATT has done door-to-door sales for years. When U-Verse came to my neighborhood they had people out there every day for months trying to get people to sign up.

Yep. They're legit affiliated with AT&T and the ones that have come to my door were professional and courteous. They came once right after AT&T bought DirecTV, and once when U-Verse was launched in my hood.

Unless you're a bouncer, you wouldn't call this group courteous.

Oh no this was a clean cut guy with an iPad, uniform, and badge. He obviously had to present and show me all of this before I showed him my stuff. Was very nice and professional, not a thug at all.
Basically he is a college student and it is some internship thing where they were canvasing certain areas as we were getting fiber installed.

Why did you open your door in the first place?

When I was slightly more desperate for a job in college I went on an interview for these guys and it was awful
Showed up for interview number one and was asked like 5 basic questions, was told I aced it and they would like to set up a second on site interview
Show up to the second interview and they offer to drive me to the site, which ends up being a neighborhood in BR about 30 minutes away from the building. Apparently this on site interview is me following around with this dude for 7 hours while they knock on doors and sell AT&T fiber. Guy spends the whole time bragging about he makes so much money doing this and that they are so nice to let you go home early on saturdays if you sell 2 of the packages first. So you’re looking at a 6 day week, start the day with 2 hours of meetings from 8-10 and then off to knock on doors from 10-7 pm at night. 100 percent commission. No benefits of course.
I was stranded with this dude at this point, and he takes me to lunch....that he makes me pay for my own food while we’re at it. And he tells me how in 6 months you can become your own boss with people below you and making all this money. Seemed extremely pyramid scheme like to me, but he assured it was all on the up and up. Of course they offer me a job on the spot and I tell them I’ll let them know after the weekend and never call them back
