NBC link

Not sure if this is worthy of its own thread. The pressure is getting to everybody. I’d bail out too. The mayor was a great voice a couple of weeks ago and now calls for the firing of the officer. I guess there’s no due process allowed for those men and women.

She's trying to save her city, I guess. The animals, I mean protesters, sense blood in the water.

There’s really no point in being a cop anymore. You can’t do your job. There is zero reward for being proactive bc if you get into something then everyone turns on you.

I wouldn’t do it. I don’t blame her one bit for this move. Your mayor doesn’t support you. You can’t even get a general statement about reviewing facts. You have people continuing to blindly defend criminals.

They’re going to fire the officer for doing his job. This is so out of hand. They should give him a raise. Every cop should get a bonus for each one of these animals they put down.

If you’re trying to save your city you don’t throw gas on the fire by saying the cops were unjustified in killing a black guy

That’s literally the quickest way to lose control of a fricking city right now

Forced resignation

quote:

“Out of a deep and abiding love for this City and this department, I offered to step aside as police chief," she said in a statement. "I have faith in the Mayor, and it is time for the city to move forward and build trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve."

She immediately came to the defense of the suspect.

The videos out paint a picture not worthy to defend the suspect considering what he pulled. It’s not difficult to comply

Everything on the surface of this shooting in Atlanta was 100% justified.

Yet the chief has resigned and the mayor is demanding the officer be terminated.

This is how a civil society deteriorates. Police are basically going to be report writers for insurance companies.

“Hello 911”

“Yeah I have some rowdy people in my store causing a scene and fighting”

“Ok ma’am just document your damage as best as possible for when the adjuster gets there. Just call us back when they leave.”

I agree. I'm just trying to understand why the chief resigns (outside of having a useless mayor for a boss). The chief was probably hoping her stepping down would pacify them.
