Posting this question in r/Atlanta

There was a black gentleman on Fox this evening that stated something similar. Basically asked how can you have systemic racism in Atlanta when the mayor and most of the city council are black?

For the people denying this, ever heard of the Southern Strategy? There was a big switch back during the Civil Rights movement when JFK and LBJ aligned the Democrats with King and black Americans. After that it’s pretty easy to see the Republicans like Nixon pandered to the South and it went red. For those that say the Democrats have always been racist toward blacks, yeah it’s true. However since the 60s they have hidden behind a facade that they are there to help the black community, so they get the black vote. Republicans on the other hand just don’t really give a frick about blacks. No party is a friend of the average African American.

These Negroes, they're getting pretty uppity these days and that's a problem for us since they've got something now they never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness. Now we've got to do something about this, we've got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference.
LBJ in reference to the Civil Rights Act of 1964
The Democratic Party has been racist since its inception. There was no switching of the parties in the late 60's despite what dems want to claim. They are the party of slavery, the party of Jim Crow and the party of the Klan.

There was a political change...but it was the 1860s. Before Lincoln, dems wanted small government; republicans wants big government. What most Race baiters fail to acknowledge, is that Lincoln was a republican in what we consider to be today’s Republican Party and it was the dems that wanted/still want to keep them in chains.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the problem at hand. White cop kills and a black guy. Stay with the story

It would be nice if folks minded their own business. If people stopped worrying about the rest of the country and focused on their own local problems, there would be far more impactful change.
I’ll take it a step further
If folks minded their own business in their immediate family, there would be much, much less problems
Look, 99.99% of people can’t manage a whole lot, but they can manage your children, your closest friends and set good examples and teach right from wrong.
Quit frickiing women with no intention of raising a child, take time to help out around your house, try to be a hero for your immediate neighbors
If this can be done, I promise you there will not be a problem in this country
Notice I never mentioned anything about funding, programs, etc
They are not there to replace raising up kids to be respectful

All three of them have the power and have used it to set the priorities and policies for the department.
I support BLM, but don’t bury your head in the sand to think the issues don’t start at the top.

Wrong. Democrats aren’t in the business of helping unless it gets them useless idiot votes. Open your eyes.
It’s not like the democrats and republicans had a meeting in the 60s and said “ ya know, we’d like to switch platforms, I’ll take yours and hey, you repubs can have our racist/ communist platform.” That’s just dumb. Dems saw their support slipping and needed a way to gain voting blocs, thus you have LBJs quote that’s commonly used as proof (200 years).
Southerners in the 70s and 80’s embraced their neighbor and put racial differences behind them as they turned to the republicans for boosts to the economy, defense of religious freedom, leadership in the Cold War, and anti- welfare as southerners have strong work ethics.

You do know that the Democrats used to be the racists and the Republican north freed the slaves. Only started swapping to current situation in 1960s.
Like, in 1960, all the senators and representatives got together and decided to change names
Its amazing that 1. The dems thought to even make up such an egregious lie, and 2. People were dumb enough to believe it
