Who knows what his real plans were, but thankfully this didn't turn into a tragedy..

ATLANTA - A man is facing multiple charges after police said he threatened to "shoot up" Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and was arrested there with a gun in his truck.

What we know:
According to police, Billy Joe Cagle was taken into custody Monday morning after his family called Cartersville police to report that he was driving to Atlanta and threatening to harm as many people as possible.
quote:
Cartersville police alerted the Atlanta Police Department about the threats around 9:40 a.m. and shared Cagle’s photo. Atlanta officers were told he was likely headed to the airport.
Police said Cagle entered the terminal through door S1 at 9:31 a.m. and had been inside for about 20 minutes before officers spotted him. Officers arrested him at 9:54 a.m., less than 15 minutes after being notified of the threats.
Cagle did not have any weapons on him at the time of his arrest, but police said they found an AR-15 rifle in his truck, loaded with one bullet in the chamber and 26 rounds in the magazine.
What they're saying:
Officials praised Cagle’s family for contacting law enforcement, saying their actions likely prevented a tragedy. Police said this is a case where the family saw something and said something.
Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum thanked Officers Gibson and Banks, who arrested Cagle, and Sgt. Jones, who helped coordinate information as it came in.

The Atlanta airport can do that to the most stable of men.

I have to fly out of Atlanta pretty often for work, and I'm allowed to carry a gun through security and on planes.
I've been close.... reeeeal close. That place brings out the worst in humanity

That's sloppy as shite. A 30 round mag should have 30 rounds in it, at worst 29.

You got a gun up in your waist, please, don't shoot up the place (why?)
'Cause I see some ladies tonight that should be havin' my baby, baby (uh)

Deputy US Marshal
I pretty much get to skip right through with proper identification. Even with that, the airport scene all across this country is hell on earth. The Europeans and even some of the Caribbean countries have it figured out, but Americans are the world's worst flyers

That baw looks just like every Mississippi State fan I've ever met.

I got to the airport an hour after this happened and was unaware until my wife sent me the story after landing. Everything seemed business as usual but hard to get lower than tsa at Hartsfield-Jackson

In my experience checking guns as a regular civilian at ATL, IAH and HOU, no. It will make sure your bag never gets lost though.

Finally, someone that lives in ATL that doesn't worship everything about that patronage ridden dump that makes passengers at the TSA checkpoint a bigger target than a 777, by funneling everyone through one checkpoint.
