Often wondered why they have never paved the whiskey bay exit or the exit that runs to butte la rose/krotz springs to run the traffic to 190?? i mean its only like 6 or 7 miles down to pavement then through krotz sprins to 190 on the exit that goes to butte la rose/krotz springs. used to take me about a half hour to go from rest area off i-10 bridge to 190 through krotz sprins. thats a bit but compared to sitting on bridge for 2 hours then i guess its ok.

Has it been confirmed that anything actually leaked? If you are placarded, Hazmat (LSP) has to be notified and will come to the scene if anything is leaking or not. In fact theres seven or eight different agencies that must be notified for any spill. If people are just sitting there then its pretty safe to say nothing leaked out.

1. trucks pretty much limited to right lane{s} only
2. trucks must adhere to lower speed limits
3. virtually all trucks are not allowed on "interstate type" highways beginning at noon on Sat. until late on Sun. { can we not wait for the new toaster for 2 more days? }
4. commercial drivers...as well as "private" operators, are required to pass very stringent driving/safety classes !
shall I go on ????

I'm not trying to be a dick but with the exception of the Sat/Sun rule you pretty much just listed the current industry standards, the very first two are applied to the Basin bridge already. The Sat/Sun rule likely wouldn't work, all that'll do is force trucks to back roads, increase rates of commodity shipments and increased prices on those commodities.
Federally mandated electronic logging, which is coming soon, will reduce some of this but not all of it.

No it wont. All that will do is cause more accidents. 9 times out of 10 the trucks involved in these are the trucks from extremely large fleets that are already running E-logs. You want real change? Tell you congressman that Hours of Service rules need to be changed. That would be proactive, not reactive like the E-log mandate.
