All these people saying “buy used” probably don’t realize the premium prices the used car market is still commanding. Lookup any type of vehicle new price vs used price and it’s usually hard to justify paying the used price as an overall value proposition.
Now if your only concern is how much money you have to spend to get the car, then yeah, used will cost less.

My car will have to be completely toast. Out of your mind thinking I’m spending a lot of money on a vehicle

I wouldn't buy a new vehicle right now, in 3-6 months, they will be significantly more discounted.
Seems like I have been hearing this for 2 years now. Same with housing. Hasn't happened.

I would get a used Tundra with the smaller V-8 if you don’t have to tow anything heavy. I went with a new F150 because of fuel economy. I wish I would have stayed with Tundra.

Not me, no. If you go look, average inventory across all brands is almost 100 days, and Ford is like 180 days and Stellanis is over 200 days. That isn't sustainable for long, and prices are coming down, but given the economy, there is quite a bit of room for it to go quite lower.
already seeing discounts of $15K on Ram trucks on average where I live. I suspect it will go lower in 3-6 months.

Maybe go online and build and order exactly the Jeep Wrangler you want, your color, your wheel and stereo packages, anything you want and nothing more. I did it for my dog-mobile and it's now my vehicle of choice.

Mine’s got 183000, and today I’m going to try and change the battery without paying BMW to code it. Going ti hook a battery charger to the jump ports under the hood while i take the battery out of the trunk. Hopefully that works. Changed the alternator, tensioner and belt last week…doing an oil change today as well. I’ll just reset the brake fluid light without doing the work.
Love the car, but my manifold is cracked…the infotainment system fails to boot up sometimes, and it’s leaky AF, though it doesn’t burn oil.
One day I’d love to have it rebuilt.

Those F150’s are 2023’s and they are only discounted 2-5k…. As soon as you drive it off the lot its worth 10k less… they need to come down a lot more on those 2023’s

Try to wait another few months.
F-150s are seeing some legit discounts in some markets and unsold models are piling up outside of their manufacturing plants. Ford, Ram, and Jeep have major inventory issues now in the sense that they have too many of them sitting around.
Toyota has a similar issue pending with the Tundra but they generally don’t discount as much.

When you get tired of driving the beater. Then go buy new or new used. I tend to keep things forever. I finally broke down and bought a ‘21 pickup after keeping my previous pickup for almost 23 years.
It’s very nice.

One of the terms of my vehicle allowance is my vehicle can’t be older than 5 years or have more than 200K miles. Right now I have a 2021 Ram 1500 Bighorn crew cab (Crew cab is another requirement) with 63,000 miles. So, I’ll replace this truck probably next year.

$50k+ for an XLT is crazy.
It is. And that’s why Ford is swimming in unsold inventory.
Ram might be even worse.

You may as well just buy a new car if it’s a BMW made after 2005.

Don't do it. I drove nothing but F150's since the '90s. Quality was worse with each one
Ya know, there’s people everywhere that say this crap about every vehicle (year and model) ever made.
My trucks:
- 2001 F150 Super crew 4x4 with 330,000+ miles
- 2011 F150 Super crew 4x4 with 251,000+ miles
I would imagine that there’s been less than $3k spent at the mechanic between the two of them.

Cannot disagree more. New prices are more outrageous than ever. I’m in the market now and I’m 100% buying used.

When it becomes a maintenance headache and no longer reliable.

I have a 7 yr old F150. It's cost me about $150 in non-routine maintenance so far.

Na, its a naturally aspirated I6 with a manual 6 speed. It’s a 2009. Finding someone to do it all correctly would not be easy though. Paint, interior…difficult as well.
I need a new headliner right now as well.
