I’ve been ready to get out. I’m waiting on the wife and she says 3-5 years from now. We see ourselves living somewhere in North Ga.

Then you're just not imaginative enough to consider what a business opportunity a restaurant making good food is in a place like that.
The problem with every Cajun restaurant outside of Louisiana is quality of ingredients. They all use cheap seafood because it’s easier to get, it keeps costs down, and locals think it’s good and don’t give a shite

Paying more taxes compared to nearby states, having criminals out on parole left and right, idiotic leaders that would rather ban street names than call out criminals, and just flat out ideocracy is the reason to consider a move over the weather imo.

I’ll rebuild our house once. Twice? I will leave whatever area I’m in, job included.

Do not move to West Virginia. There are floods, blizzards, tornados, and meth-addict yankees here.

Meh. We’ve been here since 2013 and have’t dealt with anything. People living level with creeks or rivers have had problems, but We bought elevated property which is pretty easy to do since the area is so hilly. Tornadoes happen, but not to us so far. Not like a hurricane where everybody gets it. Moreso than the weather, there is a lack of crime here that allows us to relax in a way that was not possible in La.

I love my job but it’s keeping me in this shithole, unfortunately.

For me, it was 2013.
Katy, which was quite meh, then Magnolia which is...imagine all the perks of LP without the KKK and meth.

When our parents die, we’ll be gone. 10-15 years. I’m ready to leave now but I want to be around for my parents and in-laws until they’re gone. By that point, my kid will be an adult and we’ll see where that takes us.

Born and raised in New Orleans. I knew in high school that I wanted to move away. Graduated from college and moved out west without knowing a soul. I do not regret that decision one bit. All of my immediate family has moved out of state as well.
Once you leave Louisiana, you realize how poorly the state is run. Add in the constant hurricane threat and lack of four seasons, and it makes it a harder sell too.
I was back in New Orleans a few weeks ago, and it was just kinda depressing to be honest. Yeah, the people and food are great but there’s no real industry (I’m talking as in a certain industry is focused there). It’s a major city with a small town feel.
If you have a chance to experience somewhere else for a while, take it. You may just surprise yourself.
