At what moment did you realize that your SO was “the one”?

Was it a single moment? Did he/she do something that really impressed you? Or was it a more gradual process?
Everyone always romanticizes everything nowadays, but I was wondering if there is really a moment like everyone says or if that’s just a bunch of BS and nonsense.

The moment I saw her eyes. Couldn't stop staring at them. Knew I wanted to look at them forever.

There isn’t a “the one”.
There’s circumstances and choices and weighing your options. It’s not metaphysical. Just human.
If I didn’t have you.
You decide to make someone the one you want to love.

When I found out how much a divorce would cost me.

First time i saw her. I remember what she was wearing. The way she looked at me and said hi. Didn’t get together till 7-8 years down the road but I always knew it would happen.

Honestly, my old lady made the smartest move she could have made at the time: She chose not to try putting me on a leash.
I was on the tear of a lifetime with getting laid, sticking and moving, pumping and dumping, whatever you wanna call it. She came along and I was terrified because I knew she had the ability to put an end to all that. But she told me I could see other girls all I wanted as long as she was "my number one". Not much longer after that I realized I didn't really need anybody else.

There’s a lot of truth to this. This idea of their being “the one” is completely oversold.
For example, there have been a few studies on arranged marriages that show that marital satisfaction doesn’t differ much from the marriages we’re more accustomed to here.
Love isn’t just the butterflies and honeymoon-type feelings. Once that decreases (and it will), you do have to consciously choose to love your spouse.

A girl I could hang out with. Don't say "old lady" it sounds ridiculous.
