most 5th graders are 10 and 11.

Eta: seems like a unique childhood staying at hotels unsupervised and taking cabs in various cities and multiple flights unsupervised as a 7-13 year old.

they left me in the car for hours in the summer time. windows up. no a/c.
i had to live in the closet beneath the staircase too.
i eventually was invited to a secret wizarding school.
i met my two best friends at that school.
we had some crazy adventures for about 7 years.
i destroyed an evil wizard.
so don't worry things worked out for me in the end.

You've had one drink or one or two beers? For me, I'd drive. I do not drive after 2 drinks or 3 beers, but less then that I'm not affected at all.

I hesitate to offer that opinion because we have so many stupid people in this country who believe they can drink a six pack or more and not be affected in anyway, shape or form.

Get the Uber, ride over with your OB Buyers Club Exclusive rotomolded cooler, then the

After one drink I'd take her. After 4-5 I'd ride with her and take the Uber back home.

This is the answer.

14 seems a good age. My folks dropped me off downtown for concerts and stuff about that age, and I rode the bus or with older friends all over town with no incident. Uber seems like a good option.

Just track her progress on your phone.

I was teetering on whether to believe your bullshite until this pushed me over the edge.

No, you didn't.

And, if you were an orphan, how would afford to be criss crossing the US on multiple cross country airline flights?

bullshite. Final answer.

I'd ride with her in the Uber then ride back to where I was.

i probably took my first unaccompanied cab when i was in maybe 6th-7th grade. hailed a cab with 40$ and met my family at the restaurant down a ways in the city.
i did call a cab when i was in 5th grade to take me to the airport from the hotel because my flight was delayed from the night before. that was basically a shuttle though.

As long as the child doesnt come back, all ages are good for me. As long as I dont have to see the kid again, Im happy.

I'm not following you. What kind of full time job does a 10 year old have? If you were orphaned, why did you hail a cab to go eat dinner with your family? You should do an ama thread.

The kids at the school my wife teaches at in The Woodlands take uber to and from school regularly. No way I'm putting a 14-year-old in an uber alone.
