Ummm... 12 with parental consent? 18 by themselves? I really don't know. I think that the current 21 age is based off of statistics and it lowering the amount of deaths though I can't really say how much it actually reduces drinking at those ages.

I don't see how the drinking age reduces this. That's going to happen either way

You lower the accessibility slightly which drives up the binge drinking and bad decisions exponentially IMO

Move the drinking age to 21. Also the draft and military service to 21. Then everything else to 21. Can run for president at 21, rent a car at 21, etc. if you're old enough to be drafted and die for your country, you're old enough to afford ALL the privileges it offers.

I don't really like this mentality of thinking that the government should make decisions for people because they know what is best. At least that's how I see it. I guess it's unavoidable in some respects, but I like to keep it to a minimum personally.

ETA: I'm not sure how practical it is in this instance anyway.

So no consumer safety commission? Anyone can sell any product and just let the chips fall where they may? Not a great idea. I'm not a big government guy, just stating that parental supervision is a pointless argument.

Have to be 35 to run for president and government has nothing to do with at what age you can rent a car.

Congrats on the dumbest thing I've read today. That's what we need, drunk 8 year olds driving because their crackhead mom is sucking dick for a fix.

obviously you didn`t catch that was an extreme exaggeration for effect.. my point being the government controlling smoking ages or drinking ages was never their job, unless it directly affects public safety basically it is none of their business in my opinion

I'm 25 and haven't had to use this law since high school, so I am not sure if it is still in effect (I'm pretty sure it is, though), but Wisconsin is the only state that allows parents/guardians to purchase alcohol for their children at bars or restaurants. Obviously this is assuming the parent/guardian is present.

Anyway, I think the legal drinking age should be 18.

Frontal lobe isn't developed until 25,but they're not pushing the drinking age back that far.

At what ever age the parents are not responsible for little Johnny/Jill actions once they get drunk.

I don't think it should be 18. I don't really like the idea of high school kids being able to buy alcohol. Maybe 19 or 20 but I don't really see anything wrong with 21.

16 but with stipulations. Certain GPA + extracurricular activity like sports or p/t job or something equivalent. Same with a drivers license.

After turning 18 when you enroll in college, trade school, or full time work after graduating HS/getting a GED you can then get your DL and are allowed to legally consume pot and alcohol.

If you want to be a dead beat and don't want to better yourself or work full time you can still participate at 21. You can get a DL smoke pot and drink.
