Think about what... That you are likely as uninformed as he is?

4577 in taxes (before reduction for trade in)
575 in titling
51125 total
Most of your local banks aren't going to top out around 140% of value. Assuming they don't want invoice for value, that's a max of 64000 before any warranty or gap.
Assuming 46k value and 4499 in warranty and gap, that's 68.5k with no negative equity or tax credit. Given he would have had to max out that loan to cover his trade, he's likely at 68.5k

We’ve been replacing damn near every part on the wife’s 2018 Yukon to avoid any new notes.
136k miles and that fricker is dropping repair bills on the reg. Matter of fact, it’s throwing a code as I type this and going back into the shop this morning. Today it looks like the Body Control Module has failed. It has had the following repairs:
New tranny
All motor mounts
AC system leak
Rear shock replacement
Coolant sensor/thermastat replacement
Getting tired of being prudent on repairs…..then you go look at prices. $78k GMC SLT 4x4
$97k Denali
$100k Sequoia (yeah frick them)
We need a full size 4x4 SUV and that price point suuuuccckksss

Turned in my man card and bought a 23 Ridgeline. Went from a Silverado 3/4 to the Ridgeline. Didn’t need the big truck any longer. Starting to travel more with work. Wanted something more comfortable and get better MPG.
I looked at the Nissan Frontier but more room and better ride in the Ridgeline. Plus I like the AWD system. Wife has a Pilot BE and it’s very similar.
My 13 yr old daughter was upset because her friends at school liked my Silverado. Now she says no one is intimidated by a Ridgeline.

The Ridgeline's a solid vehicle. Basically what I'd consider a city truck. Enjoy.

My next truck will probably be a Tacoma if I like the next generation. Hopefully that's several years out though. My F150 is paid off and still doesn't even have 60k miles on it.

Guy here in Zachary has an 06 that he is still driving with over 300K miles. He said he hasn’t done anything to it besides change the oil, tires and 2 timing belts.

There is nothing intrinsically "wrong" with buying new, but then you have to commit to a 10- to 15-year relationship with that car and most folks cannot do that. If you get bored with a car at 3 to 5 years, do yourself and your kids a favor: buy a 5- to 8-year old car, then.
Do the math on the "average" car note in America. Hitting somewhere between the average "new" and average "used" is something like $625 to $650. So, let's just take $600 a month.
$600 per month saved for 10 years at just 4% is $90k. For 10 years, it is almost a quarter million dollars.
Even if you never get upside down, that's the opportunity cost of buying new, paying off the note, buying new again. Over a typical 45 to 60 year adult lifespan that's millions of dollars.
