Usually because one perceives the other to be a threat - no way aliens who could travel through space would consider us a threat.

Or someone wanted their land or to enslave them. Isn't that how 95% of alien movies go?

No, but they might consider us an anthill that needs to be poisoned.

Oh, and...

Maybe they just like killing. This is just ridiculously naive, like most of your posts.

They're not going to make first contact until we become a warp capable species.

There are obvious filters such as an extinction level event.

The most obvious is the eventual end of life of their star(s).

If we can't figure out how to, as a species, colonize another planet in another solar system before the Sun renders the Earth uninhabitable, then boom, we're done.

That's sort of my point. You're speaking in absolutes about what this particular set of species requires. That's all based on earth principles.

I feel like I'm not explaining myself well,
I agree. Saying that alien beings "likely" do anything is ridiculous. People project how they imagine humans might do something in the future onto what they think aliens are doing.

These beings could be based on anything and could exist in ways we can't imagine or comprehend. We have no idea.

What if there are beings that are simply born with a higher level of intelligence than we have or will ever have? What if these beings master interstellar travel right off the bat? What if these beings can detect and escape any possible danger to their existence? I think it's yet another example of human ignorance to assume any living being must absolutely undergo an extinction.

No, but they might want the light from our Sun. Apparently they know how to use enough starlight to dim their star quite a bit.

Buy some really thick parkas and get ready to starve.

Name your evidence. It's like saying you want lobster, you won't leave the house to get it, and you wait for one to walk through your door and hop on your plate. When that inevitably fails, you conclude lobsters don't exist. There are trillions of worlds in the Milky Way and the only ones where we have a good idea about what kind of worlds there are in those solar systems, they're within 100 light years. The Milky Way is 100,000 light years across. It's a mathmatical certainty, and you're complaining because we haven't seen them in the tiniest corner of the universe. This is how far our radio waves have gone for instance:

That's 200 years. It's nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Didn't Ancient Aliens sat that they wiped out a past Earth civilization with the flood?

So out of the thousands of trillions of planets in the universe, we're the only place that harbors life?

There's as much evidence for that as there is for God.

Don't tell that to the militant atheists though.

There's lots and lots of evidence including photographs that there are other planets out there, and there are multiple worlds in our own solar system with liquid water. I think that's significantly more evidence than a specific religion being correct.
