re: People "collecting" money outside of Wal-Mart

Complaining about a corporation making money and then talking how you do not want shoppers to shop at the stores you go to.
Incredible. Absolutely incredible. You truly are a horrible human being.
If I had said that, you might be right. Walmart doesn't earn money, it exploits. It ruins communities and destroys small business.
And, yes, I don't want the trailer trash that goes to Walmart shopping where I shop.

I do not even acknowledge their existence. I ignore their begging for money completely. I sometimes even make deliberate eye contact but make zero response when they ask for money and keep walking without breaking stride.
They are probably Walmart employees begging for enough money to live on.

If I had my way (which will never happen), Walmart would be dismantled. I would settle for being banned from opening the small stores, should be antitrust.
Costco, on the other hand, should be exalted. It pays good wages, far above what Walmart pays.

You want to know how unfair of a playing field it was? I would go in walmart and find the exact products I sold. They would sell them retail cheaper than I could buy them wholesale.
Doesn't surprise me ... they are so scummy.

Aren't you some youngish chick? But you own a farm?
Yes, in Fannin County northeast of Dallas.

That isn't wal-marts fault, that is a federal government issue. If you run a buisness you take every possible advantage you can to make the bottom line as big as you can.
Now I am totally with you about the federal government should not be subsidizing billion dollar companies but in my opinion wal mart is a well oiled machine in our capitolist economy.
You are right, it is not Walmart's fault. It is the fault of those who give their money to Walmart. I have a farm, and one of the little town's near my farm has a locally owned grocery store that may go out of business (they are trying to hang on) because one of the little Walmart's came in.
Of course, once the competition leaves, then there will be no store with sackers who carry your groceries out. The money will all flow to the Mart in Arkansas.
I get so pissed when I see local people shopping at that store - you really don't realize what is happening?

That wasn't my point. I just refuse to shop there. There are many other options besides Walmart at almost the same prices or better. But, you seem like one to bitch about something instead of doing something about it. So, by all means, keep bitching.
There is always some Walmart junkie who will come to its defense and they always use the "privilege to pay higher prices" argument. How about "I'll pay a little more to not stand in line for ten minutes?" Or "I don't want to wear the same blouse as some 300 pound trailer park behemoth?" Or "I support small and/or local businesses."

Soooooo are you a socialist or just against making money.
You are upset bc they saw a buisness opportunity and filled the niche and made money as a result. They pay their workers according to the federally mandated minimum wage (which is another argument). I don't see the evil.
I'm upset because the taxpayers subsidize the shitty wages that Walmart pays. I'm upset because Walmart is largely responsible for the invasion of Chinese imports that we have had and the build up of the Chinese economy. They put decent local stores, ones with good service, out of business because we are largely too f'in stupid to pay a little extra for better service (e.g. as those who shop at Target do).

hey do provide lots of jobs to mentally challenged and physically disabled people. My sister has worked at Walmart for a few years now.
My hatred of Walmart is well known, but you did just point out the one good thing that they do.
Brookshire's does that too, or at least used to do it a lot in this area.

Walmart is trashy, and by shopping there, you are enabling the Waltons to make billions while paying the employees sub-standard wages.
Walmart is the evil empire.
I would be ecstatic if Walmart went out of business tomorrow (except I wouldn't want to see some of its shoppers at the stores I go to).

We believe our current technology is the be all/end all. Fact is future people will make advances that will make us look like the Rome/airliner you allude to. Can you just imagine the look on the face of a person in 1900 if you explained neutrinos to them? We are stuck in believing the laws of physics are complete and infallible. This will change.
Hellz bellz, they might just discover faults in the computer model concerning global warming. Just think, they may just go back to an impending ice age prediction.
I agree 100%.

Geo-engineering. Been here for a long time. There is a lot of nefarious, evil stuff going on in that area.

It also could be that there are millions of different planets that are just way to far for us to ever communicate with, and they are about as advanced as we are.
This is probably true, but I hope and believe that there are exceptions who can and who have communicated with us.

The problem we make is that we have no understanding of what life is or is not outside of our own limited earthview.
I believe, as many do, that there are forms of life that would be completely foreign to what we believe our knowledge of "life" is. "Life" in the universe would be as strange to us as an airliner would be to a citizen of ancient Rome.
Yet, we continue to guess what that life form would be. And, there is little chance that we are right. So, all these complex theories make for great debate, but do little to ferret out the truth.
What we likely know is that we had visitors from some other place, aliens who assisted the ancients and then disappeared (for reasons we cannot fully explain).
The sad thing is that in our lifetimes it is almost a certainty that we will never know what is out there.
And, if we don't do something about climate change, we will never know.

I'll bet you could walk through a Mormon community at any time, day or night, and feel safe.
I have had some dealings (horses) with the Amish and they are also wonderfully nice people. They are truly the salt of the earth, and are quite shrewd in business dealings. The barns are fantastic too.

You also apparently aren't human. Being around people farting is pretty much a daily occurrence for the rest of humanity. It's something that happens and is wholly unremarkable.
It is unremarkable until some old man hikes his leg way up (e.g. waist level), sticks his butt out, and cuts loose.
"Taking a shite", a common theme on this thread, is also "something that happens and is wholly unremarkable" - until someone does it in a stadium.

I'm sorry I haven't had the worldly experience of seeing someone take a dump in the middle of a football stadium. I guess I don't socialize with high culture.
