Naomi Judd was a Registered Nurse. She knows what works and what doesn't. I am sure she did not want to end up in an ongoing vegetative condition that her family had to deal with.. and decide to pull the plug on... Vain or not.. She meant business. She was done.

That reads like she was at the house and spoke with her that day and then went up to speak with her and found her. So she used a gun to commit suicide, but Ashley, who was at the house, didn’t hear the shot?

Her state of mind may have been such that how she looked was the last thing on her mind. In previous interviews after writing her book, she talked about the times she was in deep depression. She didn't get out of her pajamas and didn't practice good hygiene etc...
Her husband stopped her before when she held a gun to her head.
I don't think she was worried about vanity when she made the decision.

In my unfortunate experiences dealing with suicides, this has always been the case. It’s my personal belief that most people don’t see it coming because the person who ends up killing themselves has made peace with their decision leading up to it.
