Highly unlikely, cane is a grass and can be ratooned. In my 49 yrs I have never seen any rotation with cane and beans.

Well I know they are rotating soybeans in some of the fields in St James and Ascension parishes.

Agreed. Usually only grow cane from stubble for 3 or 4 years. After that have to re-plant and start over. Some farmers will rotate soybeans or even wheat between crops before re-planting in cane.

They will pay far over market value for this property and the owners will be able to buy 3 acres of un-fricked land elsewhere for what they'll get for 1 acre out of this deal.
Tell us that you have no actual experience with Right of Way/Eminent Domain issues while trying to imply that you do.
It is a mixed bag with winners and losers.
But the greater issue is that most people do not want fair market value for their homes after making it their homes. It is wrong to uproot people involuntary without a compelling need.
The US Supreme Court got their latest ruling on this completely wrong.

There are a lot of people who capitulate to whatever their government asks for.

All for socializing the land "for the greater good"

I wish somebody would decide they wanted to plop some industrial shite on top of where my house is. This will be the biggest windfall most of those people could ever dream of getting and they will still bitch up an unbelievable shitstorm of commotion over it.

If intentionally wanting to get sick from chemicals was a post…

Steve Lehto just posted a video about this. I haven't watched it yet, but his videos are usually insightful.

I have talked with a number of clients the last month who all say that the global chemical manufacturing market has just entered a global prolonged downturn. Orders for 4th quarter of this year are already down. As of this morning, a contact in Marathon's management told me that this is their forecast for chemical feedstock sales.

We already know that China is in economic crisis which is not new. Europe is not doing well either.

He doesn't understand a number of things. First, over 50% of the US ammonia production is downstream of there. There are very major natural gas pipelines already in the immediate area. The area is full of large petrochemical complexes. The area is 99.9% sugar cane fields. Likely far less than 25% own homes there of the tiny amount of residents on River Road.

Here is a link to the website for the proposed development.

Motley Fool had this bit from the Occidental earnings call last week:

OxyChem faces ongoing margin pressure due to global oversupply of PVC and caustic, with 2026 market conditions expected to mirror 2025.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we’ve heard or will hear similar from Shell and Chevron earnings calls regarding Shell Chemical/Equilion and ChevronPhillips.
