Attacks on police officers are way up. We are seeing more and more people argue over nothing. They try and argue their rights when they are dead wrong on what they are arguing about.
Most officers know your rights much better than you and they will not violate them. If you are suspected of a crime it is not our job to educate you of your rights though.
We also have those few idiots that will do something very stupid and make all of the hard working officers look bad, Cleveland for example.

All citizens should be fitted with a kill switch and when they disobey a cop he should have complete discretion to flip it. -The OT.

That is the keyword. Most do. One of my best friends, and greatest human beings I know, is a cop. The problem is the bad ones, and the lengths the good ones will go to protect the bad ones.

That is a myth. We do stand up for each other when a officer needs help, sickness, etc, but if a officer commits a crime then they can expect very little help from the good ones.
Bad ones cover for each other, but the good ones will not put up with it. I certainly am not going to jail or getting fired because another person did something stupid.

I found this statistic to be somewhat comforting as it helps to better put into context the 10-20 questionable deaths that we read about on here and that get 99% of the publicity.
Now I realize that those 10 - 20 questionable deaths are out of a total of 1,100 to 1,200 deaths annually in which the police are somehow directly or indirectly involved.
That means there are probably 100,000 + incidents a year where cops draw their weapons but manage not to have to use them.
Noticed many of the deaths were from the use of tasers.

In other words, when you account for population size and time, the total deaths by police is still about 60 times larger in the US. That is a striking statistic.

I would be the number is way higher than that. I know I pulled my weapons many times over my career without having to use it. The only time I had to use it I was justified. It was still a very tough event to deal with, though.

You can say what you will about police officers that are ill trained or make a mistake of fact resulting in a shooting (I really thought that cell phone was a gun) but if you believe an otherwise normal officer just wakes up one day and decides to go out and kill a citizen then you are an idiot. How would that thought process go? Hmmm. I have spent years building my career, family and retirement account, I think I will risk all that plus jail just so I can pop some bullets into the next person I see.

Thanks for pointing that out. Actually, I wasn't referring to something like that. I have run from them a few times myself for some very minor shite. I was mainly referring to armed robbery, or recklessly running away in a vehicle by running red lights, stop signs, running people off the roads ..,that would put other people in serious danger. One thing I do stand by is I'm not a cop basher. I'm always polite with them and thankfully never have problems with cops.
