I'm not, and I can admit that number is pretty crazy for only halfway into the 2015. I understand some were justified and some weren't, but it's still crazy.

From outside forces? Here

From inside forces? Definitely England. And that's what the OP is about.

Many people on the board continually whine about the police enforcing brake tags. Isn't that just people not wanting to pay their taxes?

I bitch about them because they are literally pointless and such a blatant money grab for the state.

Generally speaking, If you run from the cops or become aggressive, then you deserve to be shot (killed).
It's real simple, don't be a dick. If you think the cop is being an arse, that's what the courts are for. I have no problem with them shooting idiots.

The article does not say, it only gives the total number killed. I just found that number astounding. Think about it, at the height of the Iraq war, we had 904 people die in one year there. But here at home we're on pace to have around 1,200 killed here in the US. That just amazes me.

That sounds like an apples to oranges comparison that is meant to evoke an emotional response.

The hypocrisy in your statement is way out there.

the better question is how many police are being indicted for these shootings? Is it proportionate to historical numbers? If the answer is yes then society is becoming more violent, police are hesitating less or a combination of both.

Let's see ... what is different when comparing the population of the U.S. with the populations of England/Iceland/Australia?

I like how you're thinking, but that isn't necessarily true. A possible explanation of the number indictments being proportionate would be the courts/prosecuters being more lenient on police. It's pretty close to impossible to identify specific causes with stats.

That's because the Brits just beat them to death.

And notice that this study doesn't include Police Scotland, RUC, and PSNI.

Strangely, it's the people who claim to dislike big government who end up supporting the heavy hand of the enforcement arm in these threads.

People who fear gov. power should be up in arms over the current state of our CJ system.

I'd be more curious to see the number of deaths by cops as a percentage of gun related incidents(criminals with guns) that cops were involved in. Obviously our police force is going to come into contact with criminals with guns FAR more often than in any other country.

Can we please not compare shootings of criminals by law enforcement to the deaths of military personnel fighting for our country? There's a HUGE difference.
