That explains the people shot while running away or unarmed or running away and unarmed.
Running away while firing at police officers, being unarmed doesn't excuse assaulting a police officer trying to disarm and use his sidearm against him, or running away unarmed to obtain a hidden weapon. There is a scenario for all the above in which the police are justified.

Wat?
We are fundamentally different from the UK in almost everything but language.
You're being obtuse. The U.S. And UK are both "western" countries and as far as comparative matters go, quite similar from a cultural standpoint when you look at all the different cultures across the globe. Yes there are differences, but the two countries share enough that this comparison is valid.
And one more thing. This study by the Guardian should not just be looked at from a police problem standpoint. What this study says about our overall culture should be considered as well.

And you absolutely have to consider if these killings were justified to decide if these numbers mean anything.
You should acknowledge not all are bad shootings- I agree- but when the police are the ones making the determination, if the root problem is police covering each other's violent behavior too often your statistics are near worthless/non-existent.

Try working a late night job as a young adult. I would get pulled over about every 2 months for the cool crime of being a young adult driving home at 3am. Nothing like having a policeman lie and say your tail light was out so they can check to see if you've been drinking, and attempt to justify search in your vehicle with zero cause.

This opinion epitomizes the death-drive that makes up so much of American culture.

Camera footage shot from the side where the three officers opened fire shows his right hand go out of view at his waist when they began shooting. Officers said they feared he was reaching for a weapon.

Not only did he disobey a lawful order from a police officer he dropped his hands to his waist. Of course a police officer is going to shoot him. He was reaching for a weapon. Not to mention the fact he was on meth.

It's happened to me as well. Quotas are bullshite. Idk what this has to do with criminals getting shot though. It's wrong and plenty of cops are losers, but if you commit a crime, you are opening yourself up to the possibility

Well now I know not to take your opinion seriously, thanks for that.
Did you actually watch the video? They were responding to a stolen bicycle report with the guns already out fingers on the trigger.
They also shot his friend who made no movements, so what didn't he obey?

Yes I watched the video and they were 100% justified in their shooting. I don't care if it's for a stolen bike or for a murder when a police officer tells you to keep your hands in the air, you do it. Especially reaching down for your waistline is going to get you killed for good reason. Police officers have no idea what the capabilities are of the individuals they are going to make contact with. In this case the guy was on meth. Who knows what crazy drugged up actions he could have done. The officers were placing their lives first in having their guns drawn. Which turned out to be a very good choice.

Prepared to respond with deadly force for a minor crime. Of course the police are going to come up with an excuse for their behavior whether it's honest or not.

It has to do with many police's general willingness to be dishonest to justify their behavior.

This is the thing. Whether you think the police are the issue or not, the large difference in the proportion of killings should make you think that something somewhere is really wrong.

Edit: I was referring to a different incident. In this particular case, did the cops consider a language barrier? Did they consider a taser? Multiple cops around, one can have gun drawn and other can tase. Use deadly force only if necessary. Not complying in that manner does not warrant execution.
So the cop knew he was on meth when be shot him? This was discovered after the fact. Guy is walking away with headphones on, you've got to factor that in before shooting. Why wouldn't a taser suffice?
The point of this is when to use deadly force and when not to use it. In this case, the gun shouldn't have been drawn for a stolen bike call. Since it was drawn, any movement gave the cop a reason to shoot. We need better training, stricter hiring requirements, and better pay to attract better candidates, IMO.

It's a good thing Micheal J Fox hasn't been pulled over, according to Alum he should be shot on site.

For some reason people do not seem to get this. And meth is not punishable by death

Shoot bullets first, ask questions later mentality.
Then there is the video at the gas station where the guy politely complied to get his license and was shot. Fortunately, the cop was fired. Of course charges were not brought against him because he played the "feared for my life" card.

If we want so badly to live in England why was the Revolutionary War fought? According to some only 3%'wanted freedom in the first place.
Many people on the board continually whine about the police enforcing brake tags. Isn't that just people not wanting to pay their taxes? Just like the 3%. Some call them radicalized.

This is clearly a problem, whether it be from our culture of solving problems with guns or from over policing.
I would say for the most part, the police aren't killing people for no reason..the problem is that they have to assume everyone has a gun. For such a developed nation, we're a violent arse country, and in most places, you would be a fool to leave your windows open or doors unlocked. This is unfortunate.
