Are you or your significant other a stealth shopper?

Basically, stealth shopping is the act of concealing something you’ve bought from your significant other. This is different, of course, from buying gifts as a surprise or just purchasing items on your own and having autonomy over your bank account. Rather, it’s intentional secrecy around bigger or recurrent purchases that affect your household.
“Stealth shopping often happens to avoid conflict about spending habits, or to spend without being judged by your partner,” Burrets explained. “That judgment might be about the amount of money spent, the contents of what is purchased, or the frequency of purchases.”
FYI, stealthly purchasing a Fleshlight out of shame is not stealth shopping.

My FIL buys wine bottles that he doesn't tell my MIL.

Yep. Kept a secret stash with my blackjack winnings for years. Bought several saltwater rods/reels, Henry .45-70, shotgun, a couple ATV implements with the stash.

I’m single. I buy whatever I want. Not that’s there anything wrong with being married…except she’s going to frick around on you and take everything including your soul.

I’ve spent a couple hundred grand over the years my wife and I have been married
I spent 10k on my new deer lease this year in Junction and my wife had no idea. I did tell her the lease fee was $3800 and she said that’s not bad. Then I bought a $4500 deer blind and a $800 feeder along with several new cell cams??
My wife would probably kill me if she knew what I spent on guns alone

She has no idea what is in my gun safe. Other than there’s some guns in it. Don’t know about precious metals or cash. Ha!
But other than that……. And that may be too much to say “other than that”.
She knows every dime I spend. Because I’m a frugal (cheap) arse.

I made a deal with my wife years ago that I would follow her career but she would have to pay all the bills.

She has too many parcels arriving everyday to be hiding it from me

Neither of us care that much what the other buys.
I told her if it’s over 5k we’ll need to talk, under I don’t care. Since I manage the accounts I don’t have to ask about what I buy.

Because he doesn’t want them to disappear before he can have a glass.

We used to get quarterly bonuses that was a physical check. She never knew about them. I would use to buy golf clubs and gambling money.
Now bonuses are combined into normal check which sucks

Yep. If I’m buying something golf or hunting related, I ship it to my office 95% of the time.

I did hide a firearm or 2 or more……in my car’s trunk and brought them into my stash area of the house AFTER she went to bed. I then fondled said firearms alone for a bit before putting it in a closet with the rest. Then, when noticed by the wife, I’d exclaim that it was always there. She did the same with shoes and purses so we were even in that regard.

Neither of us really cares what the other buys, but we also aren't idiots buying anything insane that would set us back.
The largest purchases he makes decisions on without my input are improving our home, so I'm certainly not going to complain. Anything unusually expensive I own like handbags was probably bought by him in the first place.
With my own money? I looooooove me a Target outfit, which sets me back about $30.

My wife has no clue how much money I spend at the bar annually…gambling either.
I have no idea how much she spends on clothes, care products, shoes or accessories.
She doesn’t want to know and I don’t want to know. Not sure if that’s stealth or smart. We are happily married 16 years

I handle 100% of the finances so I could get away with whatever I wanted. I don't typically buy anything over 100 bucks without talking to my wife about it first.
She asks before she purchases anything, unless there's wine and Amazon paired together.

As the primary bread winner, I just buy what I want under a $1000. The wife and I do collaborate a bit on major purchases simply because it has the potential to disrupt the household for longer periods of time.
