Oh sweet, I was looking for something else to knock out to avoid working today.

Is there a link to complete it online? Not sure where a mailed copy might be in this house.

Very good to know. They stalked me quite a bit a few years ago after I answered some questions for them the year prior. Drove 40 minutes out of town to try to track me down at my parents’ house (where I didn’t live) after they had been showing up to my old apartment every day and calling me 4-5 times a day.

what did they want?

Nope. The Census Bureau can and will come to your door, as they are authorized to do by law.

This.

It is good for the country to fill these out and fill them out accurately.

And aside from the obvious government need for this data, private sector uses these as well. I know our company uses demographic data to aid decision making for billions of dollars worth of investments (hospitals and other healthcare related assets).

None of that matters. And if you are stupid enough to open fire on a Census Worker then God have mercy on your soul.

You should be receiving a letter with instructions on how it fill out the Census online. I got mine the other day and knocked it out in a few minutes.

If they can't get info directly from you then they will just ask your neighbor.

These people are smarter at figuring out shite than you are about hiding info.

You realize the Federal Government has been doing a census every 10 years since 1790, right? If it were a trap I don’t think it would take over 200 years to spring the trap.

I have no issue doing it, was just curious how they enforced the law

I now remember the census takers going around the neighborhood when I was a kid

The three part identifier code on each letter ties to a street address. It's set up for internet answers.

Several censuses ago, I was in the newer burbs in Houston and whoever reports on the houses with street addresses put a house and address between me and my next door neighbor. That non-existent house in a zero lot line neighborhood didn't answer its census. So the real people census takers showed up at least twice to find that house. The two who talked to me were really confused that there wasn't a house where there had been reported to be a house. They didn't have a number for that.
