I like to wait until after Thanksgiving, but I'm not against before if need be.
Last year, we hosted friendsgiving at our house so I wanted it all up for that. One of the guests was our friend's wife in the US for the first time in her life (they live in Israel), so I wanted to let her enjoy all of the Christmas traditions.

neighbor down the street put up Xmas decorations before fricking Halloween, front yard all lit up like a whore house, no theme just a mix bag of multi colored stings of frickin lights, just awful...

You’re lucky. I was outnumbered by my husband and my mother. My tree and decorations have all been up since well before Halloween. No joke. Downvote away, I’m going to downvote myself.
The one thing I absolutely put my foot down on was no outside decorations until after Halloween. I refused to let anyone in the neighborhood know.

Put ours up yesterday. I always feel like Christmas season is over right after it begins, so a couple weeks before thanksgiving is acceptable.

Always put mine up Oct 25th, two months before the best day of the year. Same day I start listening to Christmas music
