Our society has gotten soft, people shooting up places, people tying people to wheelchairs? I mean, what's wrong with society today?

A percentage of the population has been wicked since the beginning of time.

It's nothing new, technology has just created a larger spotlight.

I mean...yeah

Eventually humans will probably doom themselves or nature will doom us

but I don't see it happening in any of our lifetimes

So we can conclude that the world is constantly getting worse, right?

No surprise. Next thread.

There is a book that recently came out called "Factfulness: Ten Reasons We're Wrong About The World - And Why Things Are Better Than You Think".

The short answer to your question is no.

I mean, we're not running around chopping heads off and raping people willy nilly like we did in the old days.

I'd say we're much better off now.

No. We will change but be fine. The violent crime and total crime index are lower than they've been since before the 1970s when the country had 120 million less people. Overall the country is wealthier and better off in many metrics. People just like complaining despite things around them improving.

I'd say that fact that we (society) complain about such trivial things is a pretty good indication of how easy we actually have it these days.

In a general sense yes. Of course. We will be eradicated as a species at some point.
