I'd say all but maybe a few thousand people at most over age of 10 on this planet are at least aware of the United States. Hell, once the United States is in the dustbin of history (all nations eventually will be there), it'll take a few thousand years for it to fade from memory... just look at the Romans (West, specifically). Over 1500 years have passed but we in society still reference them very often.

We have a bunch of people here that don’t know where states are even located at on a map... inside this country.

One of my baws was on an SF team in AFG. They helicoptered into one valley and people thought they were Russians. Those were the only outsiders these people knew anything about.

Well, Rome was a power in one form or another for well over a thousand years. Even if you limit it to the western iteration it is pretty close to a thousand years that they were powerful. They also changed forms of government a couple of times. Maybe one day we'll get there (hopefully still as a democracy) but we have a ways to go.
There a a lot of nation states, kingdoms, empies, etc. that were very powerful for a couple hundred years or more that not a lot of people are aware of.
Here are a few of them: 8 lesser known kingdoms and empires.

These same people likely own a smart phone with the Maps app but spend all their time on TikTok. Hell even Snapchat has a map feature but they’d be clueless using it. The amount of people that have no concept of north, south, east, and west is laughable.
