So, there was an old guy named Dr. Ford who practice close to Spanish Town. Bit of a whack job....charged next to nothing....carried pistol in back pocket that was always just about to fall out and onto the floor.....would frequently eat his lunchmeat sandwich during exams, placing the sandwich on the exam table with his "patient".

We brought all our pets to Dr Ford for as long as he was in business.

You probably don’t want ‘old school’ like you think you do

No, not literally, but somewhere where the dogs vet is the one that sees the dog. Not the roulette wheel of vets who rotate in and out of this particular practice. As I said in the OP, I don't want to hold for 15 minutes every time I call either. I've been forgotten by them for nearly a half hour on several occasions and had to call in again only to be put on hold once more.
To be perfectly clear, just better more personalized service like many vets in BR used to give. Is that too much to ask for?

Thanks for the good suggestions from a bunch of y'all. I appreciate them.

Wow. I can’t believe that place is still in operation. We brought our animals there 60 years ago when we lived off of Greenwell Springs Road. That’s where my BFF was put down. It still hurts to this day.

I take mine to Clinton Animal Clinic. I live in Zachary now so it’s not a bad drive. They define old school vet care as you are describing it and are all great vets and a very caring staff.

I’m definitely not a vet but I understand that you can’t have it both ways because these guys need to make a living.

If you want the vet that can spend 5 mins talking to you for free when you call with questions, you’re going to pay more for the items he’s got to make a profit on. There’s two ways they make money : their time and selling stuff in the office.

Also, I'm tired of get put on hold for 15 minutes every time I call, even if it's a just a quick question that needs answering.

Are these questions you are requesting the doctor answer?

Change your title. You don't want "old school" if you don't have a herd of cows or horses.

I used to walk our Great Danes from Scenic Hwy. to his office. People would scramble to get on their porches. It was amazing to me.

Azeala Lakes back in the day was great. Now all they want you to do is tell them what's wrong and drop off your pet.
Then they will exam and call you back.
Suzy Boucher is great but her business has become so big and fallen down the ladder. You can forget calling and talking to someone as they never answer the phone.
