Those old 80s Chevys...you could hear them rust

I think the 90’s/early 2000’s could be the last era of “classic cars”. With cars so reliant on computers today it may not be possible (at least for the average guy) to keep them running for decades. Kind of like computers. Eventually the tech just becomes obsolete
There are offshore systems still running on DOS. If there is a market to keep things running, they will keep making workarounds.

I had a 1982 S10 Durango option identical to this one with the long bed. I put close to 200K on it and when I sold it, everything was still working on it. The guy I sold it to kept it for three years until he sold it.
No rust, But the paint was faded pink the last time I saw it.

No because I would rather just modify the engine components to make it faster and get some ranch hand bumpers
Still can on the new trucks.

A friend in high school bought a base S-10 in blue as his work truck when they first came out. He was a die hard Chevy fan. Wasn't 1982 the first year?

Hate to break it to y’all. The childhood cars of people in their 40s are the ones that typically go up in value and become collectibles.
So we are talking about models from the late 1980s and 1990s that are the next classics.
This is hard to swallow because that feels like it was just a few years ago.

The problem with restoring these vehicles vs. the old boomer mobiles is all the no longer produced electronics and plastic interiors.

It’s sad looking at these trucks and realizing that basically all trucks & cars are now black, white, or silver.
Yeah I don’t understand why. Fleet vehicles were always white but the obsession with black is a new thing. No more two tones, fewer blues and reds, and never the occasional factory yellow or green we used to see. Like there were never that many, but I recall green Chevy Silverados circa 1999.

They do look damn good.
Yes! There is also so much room under the hood for activities!
We had a '73 F250 with a 390FE w/ 427 heads on it. It sounded awesome, got 7 MPG and ran like a MOFO!
When the 350 Vortec bites the dust in the '98 Chevy I have, I will put something awesome in it, and it will be revived completely everywhere else.
