Smooth brains say masks, but that argument falls flat on its face when you consider Korea and Japan wear masks every year and very often have worse flu seasons than we have (makes ya wonder!)
No one really knows. Educated guesses say excessive sanitizing and lack of large gatherings or just as simple as COVID has muscled flu out of frame

Curious how clear your memory is, but last year, pre covid, did yall have a lot of negative tests with symptoms of covid?
My SO went twice in January because all of her symptoms fit the flu, but the tests were negative. The doc made a comment towards seeing a lot of that this year and we just kind of brushed it off. Granted our antibodies tests were negative in May or so.

Both are very densely populated countries with people living very close together, which allows the flu to spread easier causing a more severe flu season

Japan and Korea also have much higher population densities. They tend to live and work in closer quarters.
The social distancing is having a greater effect than masks. Are you people really this stupid or just obtuse?

Someone in my area died in a car accident. They said cause of death was covid. The family got upset and told them no and they changed it back to an accident.

Seasonal flu is generally more contagious than covid has been not including the new covid varients. But it stands to reason with people all over the world locking down, social distancing and wearing masks, the flu hasn't been able to get footing the way it usually does. Seasonal flu usually starts in Asia and moves towards us and the Asians are rule followers and so doing what their doctors and scientist tell them to do.
