Going to take my nephew and his friends to a movie this week and really don’t want to pay a bunch of money since we prob won’t stay the whole movie anyways. Basically get some popcorn, experience the big screen, sound, etc. for about an hour or until tired.

I know old ones like the Broadmoor Theater isn’t a thing anymore but has that whole cheaper, older movies concept dead?

The landlords of the world think their commercial real estate is infinitely valuable so what second-run movie theatre do you think can afford to sell everything for a buck?

What’s the point of going to a movie if you’re gonna leave before it even ends?

Movie night for kids at a catholic church is normally for kids who are going to be molested.

But the low cost of entry is a big draw. A buck a head vs. 10% tithing? No brainer strategy.

It's been pretty dead for quite a while, especially with the shortening of the theatrical window for movies.

Before, it used to be a year or so between a film's release and it hitting video.

Now it's closer to 3-4 months depending on the film.

The best you tend to get these days are the kiddie matinees during the summer where you get older films like Shrek, Chicken Little, etc., shown at prices below a typical matinee ticket. Ex - $3-4 vs $7.

The next best thing you'll get is $1 rentals from Amazon, Vudu, or other Video On Demand e-tailers.

Daytime movies are cheap until 5ish. Especially on school days.

You can watch a dvd at redbox for a buck. Just bring your own chair and refreshments

It’s a little too hot to do it now but I plan on going this fall

I've never heard of anyone planning on going to the theater to see just half a movie. This is worst than the people who leave football games at halftime. Why even waste your time?

Get a Redbox movie, go to Dollar tree for snacks/or the theater concession stand. Watch movie at home for lot less.

Honestly, I wouldn't really feel safe in a movie that charged a buck nowadays...

As someone else said, I would probably try to hit something mid-afternoon, as they are usually cheaper.

Just take them to Chuck E Cheese, pretend to be with one of the birthday parties there, and give them each a quarter to play skeeball Uncle Pennybags.
