We have a dollar theater here in Hoover
It’s difficult to find a seat
90 percent are either covered with a big plastic bag, gum, or duct tape
Your shoes get stuck to the ground so bad they literally come off your foot
The velvet curtains on the side of the theatre are all torn up

Have a movie at home night. Invite local kids over, charge $2 for movie, $1 for coke, popcorn for $1....profit.....

Do people go there to watch only half or 1 hour of the movie?

We have a few in Dallas area. The one in Plano isn't too bad.

Haha, I thought that was odd as well
If I could only watch a 1/2 of a movie I’d probably pick the second half

There are 2 dollar theaters in the greate Phx area.
Not really a dollar, 3 bucks normally.

I remember going to the one at the Southland Mall in Houma back when I was in high school about 15 years ago and even then they were nearing the end.
Got high af and went watch Friday Night Lights for $1. They had the best popcorn.

Won't stay the whole time? Are you going to a movie or an LSU football game?

Do you live by an Alamo or AMC? Both in downtown Dallas do $5 Tuesdays.

Every now and then theaters run themed specials. Last summer Cinemark had all of the Marvel movies for like $5 a ticket with $2 popcorn and coke.

FWIW I found out last week that Dollar General charges $1 for cash back convenience fee.
I needed cash for my son's football game and the DG was close by the stadium. Was better than a $3 ATM Fee at Circle K or something. More ya know.

I agree that's what killed it. It was a really long wait between a movie leaving theaters and being on rental. Now it's a super short wait.
Though I do believe there is a market for a theater that charges say $5 and plays classics and cult films.

We still have a "dollar movie theater" here but I'm almost positive they went up on their a couple years ago to $1.50 or something

Theaters have matinees and deals for kids on weekdays, but it won’t be a dollar.
