My big complaint is the lines at the restaurant.

True, the lines suck, but they usually have Chick-Fil-A type efficiency. One positive is they never shut down their inside for walk up orders during COVID, so while 30 cars were in the drive through, you could just stroll in and have zero wait time and order from the counter.

Before covid, if you wanted to dine inside In-N-Out, you would often have to wait for a seat. Really unexpected for a fast food restaurant, and I think it's a negative.

If you adore Whataburger, tell me your go-to meal there. Because I'm clearly ordering the wrong thing.

Glad I'm not the only one. I've been to multiple times and don't get the hype at all. I don't get this site's obsession with it besides some sort of Texas pride thing like you alluded to.

I went to San Diego last year and had In-N-Out for the first and only time. The cheeseburger was average and the fries were some of the worst fast food fries I've ever had. Whataburger has a pretty solid hamburger. I would definitely put Whataburger ahead of In-N-Out.

Animal Fries FTW.

You had me until here. I think In-N-Out fries are crap even animal style. Their burgers are superior except for maybe the green chili burger from Whataburger.

If you are ever in LC do yourself a favor and stop by Cotton's Famous Burgers on Oak Park. Bring a gun just in case.

It's about what Sonic used to be 20 years ago before they started sucking. It's not bad, and I'd definitely go to one over McDonalds or Burger King....but it's not In-N-Out for burgers or Chick Fil A if I'm in the mood for chicken.

The Scottsdale Whataburger was better than the Tempe In-N-Out the last time I was in the valley.

The main purpose of the argument is to highlight that In-and-out is just not that good, at least relative to reputation. So you take a quality establishment like Whataburger and say that it is better, because they are not materially different
