More expensive than an EV. And a much larger pain in the arse.

Did you read the OP?

For the year 2022 the camry in Australia was passed by tesla as the most sold car..

I don’t give a shite about the environmental stuff. I bought my model X because it’s a fun toy, fast as hell. But I’ve had ridiculous maintenance problems with it in the first year I’ve had it. Was in the shop 2 months first year of ownership.

Why is this such a big deal?
It wouldn’t be if the govt wasn’t pushing manufacturers to be all Electric in less than a decade

Some might need more out of a vehicle than a Chevy Bolt. That's where you would get into recouping the cost difference. I know there is the Ford truck, but what else is there for the EV equivalent of something like a 4Runner?
There’s the Toyota BZ4X, but it had some production issues so I’m not sure if it’s been released yet.
Subaru also has something similar (I believe it used the BZ4X chassis)

Some people use their tailpipes to commit suicide
1.4 billion cars around the world pump out this suicide fragrance every day into the 1 atmosphere that we all use/breathe
EVs don't
I guess that is kinda good

Are people brainwashed with electric cars?
But if you read any EV thread and see where the blind hate and incorrect facts originate from 90% of the time, it's extremely obvious the anti-EV crowd is wayyyyyyyy more brainwashed than the pro-EV crowd.
In fact, you either lied or provided misinformation in your OP insinuating a $64k price comparison of a Tesla to a Camry, and here you are thinking the other side is the one that is brainwashed.
quote:Explain why?
I would think many people are going to regret buying ev..
quote:Sell me on why it doesn't make sense. I've had 2 EVs since early 2019, and they're infinitely better than any non-EV I've had so please sell me on why it's not?
sell me on why this makes sense.
quote:Wait, you're saying that having to deal with a dealership is a plus and NOT a headache?
The list of headaches with ev seems to be a reason not to go all in..no dealerships,
quote:So using your own electricity, which is much cheaper, by simply taking 5 seconds to plug in is more of a headache than having to go somewhere and spend more time than 5 seconds and paying more to pump your own gas?
using your own electricity
You sure you thought this one through?

Not sure if that would classify as "most people" but it sure is a lot of people.

quote:So instead of hating on the government, folks choose to hate on EVs and then think people who own EVs are brainwashed?
Because the government is in process of eliminating ICE engines
THAT is the issue at hand. You got the OP saying pro EV folks are brainwashed then gives a reason that it's such a headache to go online and within 3 minutes and 5 clicks purchase a Tesla, and it's NOT a headache having to deal with the dealership to get a non-EV.

It's always about moving the goal posts.
0.5% of car owners are bitching that EVs won't be able to do the things that they do 0.1% of the time with their ICE vehicles.
99.9% of the time for 99.5% of car owners, an EV would work just fine. Everyone doesn't have to continue driving ICE vehicles because one person needs to pull his horse trailer.
Some need more than a sedan, so they buy a pickup. They don't sit around crying because a sedan won't work for them. Some need more than a pickup, so they get a larger van. They don't sit around crying because a pickup won't handle all their needs. Some need more than a panel van, so they get a tractor and trailer.
I swear, people are acting like the government just came out and said, "Starting tomorrow, everyone will have to drive one of these:..."

That was a head scratcher when I read it. That was one of the best parts for me.
It was like buying an iPhone with a little more paperwork, and actually less time at the Tesla service center than I would have spent at an Apple Store. Literally in and on my way in minutes.

Sure but it will take you years to recoup the increased cost of the vehicle in fuel savings
Compare a $45-50k Model 3 to a $45-50k BMW in its same class/category, why is it going to take me years to recoup anything when the car cost the same as another like car?
I don't really get why folks feel the need to compare EVs to much more expensive cars to then make a point.

How?
Just because the OP says a Tesla or EV costs $64k does not mean he is correct and every Tesla or EV costs $64k or more.
OP is wrong.

I just assume the anti-ev crowd hates america and wants it to fail. For the first time in 50 years american manufacturers have a head start of the newest automotive paradigm shift. For some reason a lot of supposed americans want to see us fail in this sphere and cede the advantage to Europe, china and japan.
Indeed.
Bottom line is they mad here in LA when it comes to EV's. But I don't care how many fists are shaking, there will be more EV's on the road this year than last, and next year than this, and on and on.
By 2030 they're expected to account for more than 50% new car sales. Ford expects to produce more than 2 million EV's annually by 2026.
It is what it is.

None of that shite is serious. You will be able to tow your boat. You will be able to travel across the country. Yes, we will have more electrical generation - and powered from multiple fuel sources. African children are already dying for your phone batteries.
How about workers who have to haul trailers for their job then drive home at the end of their day. If it’s outside the current 100 mile range when towing are they supposed to sit around and wait 30 mins because you say so and it doesn’t impact you?
I’ve given you 5 examples of why electric cars aren’t appropriate for everyone and you are over here throwing a temper tantrum demanding you get to impose policies on other people with half baked reasoning as to how this would even work.
We can hardly supply power when the temps get too high or low and we are just going to snap our fingers and increase our grid 50%?
Where are you going to even find enough rare earth metals for the batteries? We currently have enough battery power to run a fraction of what would be required to convert the ICE fleet to electric and there aren’t enough raw materials to complete the process using existing tech. Should we all just start taking the bus because you’ve decided what works for people you’ve never even met?
Again, why don’t you do what you want to do and stop telling other people how to best live their lives.

They are brainwashed into thinking EVs are better for the environment than newer gas engines.
Ask them what happens to the batteries and the environmental impact of dumping them in landfills when they need to be replaced in 7 years for $8k and watch their heads explode.
Even MSN doesn’t think the tech is there and acknowledges that heavy metals like lithium are expensive and difficult to deal with after the battery is expended.

You people are just stupid about this shite, you just want to panic so bad.
There are people with lots of power whose life’s mission is scheming and plotting on how to restrict and control your activities in as many ways as possible. This has been true since the dawn of time, and the more technology improves the easier it is for them to do so.
Are you not aware of the “green new deal?”
