I’ve said it before electric motors are much more efficient. But we can’t all switch at once. And the electricity is still coming from places the Green Party doesn’t agree with.

Its modern day ribbon wearing and the irony of it all is its WORSE for the environment.

Anything I said in this thread that you disagree with?
I don't care enough to read it.
Just noticed you always heavily defending EVs.

Ok well I’ve yet to see anything which supports most of your claims regarding rare earth availability and many experts disagree with your assertion.
Forbes - US Needs 10x more Rare Earth Metals
I’m also completely at a loss as to how you plan to accommodate the energy production you are so dismissive of when the feds won’t allow new coal or gas plants to come online and have made nuclear impossible due to regs.
Just replacing the powerplants the democrats wants to shutter to meet emissions goals is next to impossible given existing technology and economic factors. You just can’t toss up a bunch of windmills and solar panels (which also require rare earth metals) and expect to hit the capacity needed.
And again I’ll go back to the question of WHY the feds need to force this on everyone to begin with.
Let the market sort it out.

Coal has be declining for a long time and not just because of the feds. The economics of a new coal plant are difficult at best.
Regarding gas plants, are you talking about natural gas?

quote:I don't necessarily agree with government intervention in markets, however energy and transportation are rather critical markets and other governments around the world are pushing and investing in these new technologies. Letting the market sort it out sounds nice until you realize that we could get sorted toward the bottom. Most markets sorted themselves out and everything ended up being made in China.
And again I’ll go back to the question of WHY the feds need to force this on everyone to begin with.

Yes among others.
The feds don’t want anything that isn’t green being built so they can try to hit the 2030 emissions goals.

There's over 32GW of new gas units under construction with authorized interconnections already.

They say one thing and do another. Thats what they do. They talk shite about nuclear but just gave it a huge subsidy.

I will agree with this, with a caveat. At home charging at 120 or 240V, no additional generation capacity should be needed. This would fall under the homes normal usage, which the grid SHOULD be designed for. However, if more people are supercharging, the grid will not support that, in most places.

Now if we all get pushed to that bullshite, then our infrastructure will crumble. Can you imagine how many transformers will blow when everyone gets home at 5-530 and plugs up their car?
Part of that problem is this country’s years of failure to significantly invest in infrastructure.

Or to be more apt, I only speak on the parts of it I am informed. All the infrastructre/grid shite that Korkstand posts about, I'll never chime in because I have no clue. I stick to the stuff I know.

Don't believe everything you read on the internet. The OP who claims pro EV folks are brainwashed was spouting misinformation and downright absurd opinions on his anti-EV crusade.
