You would never call a car dealership not willing to pay retail value for your trade in, “ripping you off” why’s this different? You were trying to rip him off if you expected him to pay a price above that which would allow him to make a profit.

My family recently closed our auto shop for good and when clearing it out I found a few ounces of sterling my grandpa had put put away there. I have looked into getting rid of it but haven't done anything yet. But the best bet would probably be to just check for local buyers who will pay market or close to it. I've heard some jewelry stores may be a good place.

Also got about 800 lbs of lead tire weights that I am really thinking about melting down, fluxing, and making ingots to sell to someone that makes their own ammo, or a shite-ton of fishing weights

What is the % silver? I'm unfamiliar with the term if it refers to a purity.

I buy only 99.x%

Who buys silver at market value in BR?

No one but the end user. Why would you think that someone who is looking to resell would pay you market value? That thought never crossed your mind?

The silverware is worth 2-3x the market value.

To who?

Honestly, as soon as he got that silver, the first thing he’d do is go in the back and melt it down. Then once he has enough bars he’ll sell it to some jewelry maker. That’s his only use for silver. He’s not going to be your middle man for nothing.

A pawn shop isn’t the place you go to make money or to even remotely break even.

It’s where you go to get raped because you are desperate for money.

Congrats on the sex.

I am amazed someone was disappointed by how they were treated at a pawn shop.

It's like they're only in it for the money.

Then why the hell did you go to a pawn shop in the first place? Do you not know how they operate? You're such an odd guy.

Not bashing you, but when you walked in and spoke with the owner you should have said something on the lines of this. Hey I have X amount of this type of silver and wanted to know if you were paying (say the market price) or anything close. I don't feel like trying to sell it myself. Then he knows that you have an idea of what you have. So you don't want to waste your time selling it on E-Bay, but you want him to cut you a deal and him run around for less than he feels comfortable making. If you have the time, sell it yourself, if not it will cost you money.
