Are Our Phones Listening to Us?

Was just talking to the wife about how I thought my teeth were moving (I wore braces for 3 years over 10 years ago) because when I floss they don’t feel near as flush with each other. We started talking about some of the options I would have to avoid getting braces again.
I shite you not a couple minutes later I’m scrolling through Facebook feed and there are ads for Smile Direct Club and 2 other similar deals to them.
I have never seen these ads before today. Never searched anything on my phone about it. Not a conspiracy theorist or tin foil hat type but got me thinking if they are really listening in to conversations.

Yes. Most, if not all, apps you've downloaded have asked permission to take in audio and you agreed.

This is well documented. The mic on your phone and laptop listen to you and ads are equipped to show those things to you.

You can revoke access to the microphone to some or all of your apps in your privacy settings.
